Michael O'Dowd wins the faceoff back to Viktor Valentine who skates it past center ice and hits a streaking Iam Essellemm who pokes it past the defender and takes an innocent looking shot on net.

It goes in, low blocker side on goaltender Sebastien Primeau.

The Scandinavian faithful are stunned, but there is still 59 minutes and 46 seconds left in the game.

Scandinavian players aren't too happy, but they are using it to their advantage.

Still less than a minute in and they enter the British Isles zone for the first time.

It's Pingy Pingu down the wing!

He takes a shot and...

It misses the net!

Mattias Enqvist grabs the puck and shoots it towards the net...

It misses again!

Tim Murda has enough!

He takes the puck away from the British Isles defender by punching him in the face a few times.

DOUBLE MINOR FOR ROUGHING only 53 seconds into the first period!

Scandinavia is doing a terrific job keeping the puck away from the British Isles power play.

They're playing keep away now and embarrassing the other team!

PASS PASS PASS

Finally, Iam Essellemm intercepts one of their passes and gets away. He enters the zone and drops a pass back to defender Jon Toner.

He steps into a slapshot and the puck enters the net! TOP SHELF WHERE THE QUEEN KEEPS HER RECIPE BOOKS!!

The next few minutes of the game is very back and forth.

Scandinavia gets a shot on goal, then the British Isles come back with a shot.

Somebody blocks a shot, some goalie makes a save.

Then, British Isles goaltender Julian O'Sullivan makes a save and tries to relay the puck up to his forwards in a breakout formation.

O'Sullivan puts the puck on his stick and FLINGS the puck up the ice in the air.

TOO FAR THOUGH.

It goes out of play at the opposite side of the arena, above Sebastian Primeau's head.

THAT'S A PENALTY!

Scandinavia has all the momentum!

They don't score on the power play.

It's still 2-0 at the half way mark of the 1st period.

Just kidding, after the power play ended, there was a goal scored.

British Isles forward Guts O'Bigbers glides through the neutral zone, all the confidence in the world.

He makes a move past a forward, but is blindsided by Scandinavian fellow Tim Murda.

NO PENALTY!

O'Bigbers stays down for a second as the play goes the other way.

Murda leaves the puck for Jussi Hammanen who sends it across to Mikkel Haugen.

He steps into the British Isles zone...

HE SHOOTS...

and misses the net.

But the puck comes back to Ensio Kalju who SHOOTS...

and he misses...

...the goaltender and goes into the net!

More back and forth action as Scandinavia is trying to tie the game up.

We have now hit the last 1:30 of the first period...

British Isles forward Paddy O'Sullivan is all over the Scandinavian zone.

He finds a shooting lane and shoots...

and misses the net.

He steals the puck back and shoots...

and misses the net.

He gets the puck back again and holds it.

There is traffic in front of the net...

Some pushing and shoving.

O'Sullivan finds a hole and shoots...

HE SCORES!!!!

But wait, Sebastian Primeau gets up in a huff. He was bumped he says! He couldn't make the save properly.

THE REFEREE IS HAVING NONE OF IT.

I WATCHED THE WHOLE THING, he says.

IT'S A GOOD GOAL!

The puck is dropped and immediately, British Isles player Oliver Hunter takes a hooking penalty. UH-OH.

Michael O'Dowd wins the ensuing faceoff but the puck ends up on the stick of Scandinavian forward Anders Christiansen who snaps the puck quickly at goaltender Julian O'Sullivan.

That's a GOOD GOAL.

GoalGoal 3-2 game, 33 seconds left in the first period! GoalGoal

If you thought the first period was over, you'd be wrong.

33 seconds? Pfft, still plenty of hockey to play. But somebody didn't give Scandinavia the memo.

Guts O'Bigbers, still upset about that blindside hit earlier in the period, steals the puck and, with a head of steam, goes into the Scandinavia zone.

There's a lane!

O'Bigbers shoots!

HUGE SAVE BY PRIMEAU.

There's a rebound!

Quinn Cullen gathers the puck and sees daylight.

HE SHOOTS AND SCORES!! Goal

GoalGoal 4-2 BRITISH ISLES GoalGoal
Quinn Cullen 1 (Guts O'Bigbers 1, Viktor Valentine 2) at 19:52

With 8 seconds left in the period, Sebastian Primeau's night is done. Scandinavia backup Kata Vilde enters the net.

The puck is dropped and BOOM!

Scandinavia player Gilmour Tuttle drops Guts O'Bigbers with a strong arm and takes a penalty with 5 seconds left.

Scandinavia is coming unglued!

Shots on goal after 1: 17 British Isles - 10 - Scandinavia

The Second Period is underway and OF COURSE, the British Isles make Scandinavia pay for that late penalty.

Iam Essellemm scores his 2nd goal of the game and his 4th point, to make the game...

Oliver Dahl scores somehow.

Nothing else happens in the second period as the teams settle in. There are a few penalties, but both goaltenders play relatively well.

Second period is over.

Shots on goal: 7 each. 24 British Isles - 17 Scandinavia

The third period was also pretty boring, compared to the crazy 1st period.

The entire British Isles team was trying WAAAAY too hard to set up Iam Essellemm for the hat trick goal.

It just wasn't working.

UNTIL IT DID.

Hats and teddy bears come down and delay the game for 25 minutes. Scandinavian players are pissed and sad. but they are professionals.

The game ends.

British Isles and Scandinavia line up to shake hands. Very strong game. Very good players.

The teams line up again on the blue lines and they announce players of the game.

For Scandinavia: MIKKEL HAUGEN

For British Isles: IAM ESSELLEMM

Some strange looking men and women in suits come out with the Bronze Medals and hand them out to each of the players. Nobody throws them into the crowd!

The Irish and British National Anthems play as the British Isles celebrate.

The end.
