For the sixth game in the series between the Moscow Minutemen and the Wood Buffalo Buffalo we are back in the center of the hockey world: ‘Wood Buffalo’

After outshooting their opponents in the first three games the Wood Buffalo Buffalo were down 2-1. In game four the Minutemen finally outshot them and instantly took home another win. On the edge of elimination the Buffalo would need to win their last three games in a row. The first one was a success, but will they hang on tonight and guarantee themselves a game seven?

First Period!


The Moscow Minutemen are the first team that gained possession after the face-off, in this game they hope to minimize the chances of the Wood Buffalo Buffalo’s in order to secure their place in the fantasy series finals.

Adam Kaiser is moving the puck in the the Buffalo zone but his pass is instantly intercepted by Tommy Salami.

Salami passes it to York who tries to reach Walker. Walker SHOOTS!










MISSED THE NET COMPLETELY! What a start this could have been to keep the Wood Buffalo dream alive! Just after 14 seconds...






The Wood Buffalo keep pressing with taking shots on Jimmy Wagner, and while they are currently the more dominant offensive force, the Minutemen are also not giving up just yet.
A lot of shots are interchanged between the teams, but the rebounds that both Wagner and Harris are giving are way are not being capitalized on. Both teams try hard to get that first goal on the board, but halfway through the first period the score is still tied 0 each.

As it stands now the Moscow Minutemen will make it to the finals of the SMJHL fantasy series. Will they be able to hold on and sent the Buffalo’s back to Wood Buffalo?

Stuart Minkus doesn’t agree yet and commits interference on Tommi Salamy, giving the Buffalo the first powerplay of the game.



During the powerplay we see of course a lot of pressing play from the Buffalo.

While the teams keep battling for possession and hitting eachother to try and achieve this, there is nothing much happening until the last minutes of the period.

The Wood Buffalo Buffalo are looking badly to get that equalizer on the board.

Second Period!


We are about to start the second period. The Moscow Minutemen are just 40 minutes away from a place in the finals if they can manage to hold onto their lead.


Early in the period they get an excellent chance for extending the lead when Buffalo’s Declan Reilly commits a hooking foul



The first part of the powerplay is once again a one man show! This time its however not the goalie shining, but it is Adam Kaiser of the Moscow Minuteman.

Being 3-0 behind it looks like it is over for the Wood Buffalo Buffalo’s. The Moscow Minutemen had a strong start of the second period and if nothing happens they will advance to the Fantasy Series finals.

And the referee whistles and sends Hertzberg to the sin bin where the only Hertzberg fan in the whole world sees an opportunity she couldn’t resist and takes a selfie.

With 2 goals up the Minutemen are trying to take it easy and not give too much chances away. Even when they are on the penalty kill again after a Fletcher Carric penalty, they know how to play solid defensively and keep the chances for the opponents at a low. It doesn’t even look like a powerplay anymore……

The period calms down as the players seem to be growing tired. They need a break to charge themselves up again for a decisive third period.
