S28 - Challenge Cup Finals - EDM @ WKP - Game 2 WKP leads series 1-0. Puck drop 11pm EST
#1

Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen, and welcome back to sunny Florida as we set up what is sure to be a thrilling second game of the S28 Challenge Cup Finals between the West Kendall Platoon and the visiting Edmonton Blizzard.

The Blizzard come into this game on the heels of just their fourth loss of these playoffs, as they dispatched their Albertan rivals the Calgary Dragons in five games, and eliminated the Winnipeg Jets in six games to book their ticket to the Challenge Cup. Meanwhile, the Platoon have taken the scenic journey to the Finals, defeating both the New England Wolfpack and the Hamilton Steelhawks in seven games. After game one needed overtime to determine a winner, we could see fatigue play a factor for the Platoon in this series.

This series could easily require a seventh game as well, as both teams seem to be very evenly matched. The Platoon and Blizzard have both had depth on offense, as they each have only two players on their rosters without any points in these playoffs. Theo Kane leads the Blizzard with 5 goals and 9 assists in 12 games, while Zalleras Szlerchek (more affectionately known as Big Z) is the scoring leader for West Kendall, posting 6 goals and 6 assists in 15 games.

The goaltending is also very close, with a slight edge going to Edmonton's veteran netminder Jakub Aittokallio, who has an 8-2-2 record with a 2.24 goals against average, a .917 save percentage and 1 shutout. In a story of mentor-versus-student, Aittokallio was Platoon puck-stopper Colin Schmidt's GM in Schmidt's junior career with the Detroit Falcons, and heralds Schmidt as one of his greatest successes. Schmidt has posted a 9-4-2 record so far, with a 2.54 goals against average and a .915 save percentage.

So, who will be tonight's hero? Will Edmonton tie the series at one, or will West Kendall take a commanding two-game lead? Tune in at 11pm Eastern (8pm Pacific) to find out!
