THE CALGARY DRAGONS VERSUS THE HAMILTON STEELHAWKS

The Challenge Cup Finals are now on the horizon, and two teams remain. We have the Dragons from the western city of Calgary, and the Steelhawks from the quiet city of Ohio. The two teams are both four wins away, however both took drastically different turns to get here.

The Dragons started their quest for the cup against Texas, a team that has been a consistent contending team since winning back to back cups in S20 and S21. The two split the first four games with back and forth wins, the Dragons having to play catchup in games 2 and 4. However the Dragons won game 5 then finished the Renegades off in game 6 in overtime, thanks to youngster VLAD McZehrl.

Their second round opponent was against the Seattle Riot, a team that was not expected to make it that far after being sellers at the deadline. Calgary took it to the Riot in the first two games both by a score of 4-3. The Riot came back in game 3 with a 3-1 win, but Seattle came back with yet another 4-3 win and finished them off in game 5 4-3 to move on to the Challenge Cup.

Hamilton started their run against the West Kendall Platoon. Hamilton won the first tweo games at home, scoring at least 4 goals in both games. However West Kendall shut them down in games 3 and four, surrendering only two goals total and tying the series up at 2. Hamilton had their own low-scoring win in game 5 with a big shutout by Jakob Tanner. West Kendall, however, would not go quietly as they won a big 5-2 win in a big game 6. Game 7 saw the two teams deadlocked at two goals each. The game would not stay tied for long in overtime, however, as veteran Griffin Simons scored his third of the series to send West Kendall home in seven games.

Hamilton's next opponent was the high-flying North Stars, coming off a quick first round victory and with lots of rest. Hamilton, battle-hardened, would not be intimidated by the team's high-speed forecheck, and won game 1 with a convincing shutout. It was more of the same all series, as Toronto could not respond to Hamilton's big guns as the Steelhawks went on to sweep the contending North Stars to move on to the Challenge Cup.

The Steelhawks are the defending cup champions from last year. The Dragons are looking for their first cup in some time, with some players who have yet to win it all. Two teams with two completely different motivations, but both are going to be incredibly motivated to win this hockey game. It all starts here, in Hamilton for game one.

I only lost 3 games last playoffs. You assholes got that out of the way early, so we need to sweep Calgary now. <_<
