KFAN RADIO PRESENTS SHL PLAYOFF HOCKEY ACTION ****************************************** ![]() ![]() versus ![]() ![]() S21 Round 1 - Series tied 3-3 ****************************************** </div> ![]() Welcome to beautiful downtown Seattle, Washington, where playoff hockey fever is alive and well! Tonight - one team's season is over! The other lives and advances to the next round! It is game 7 between the hometown Riot and the visiting Edmonton Blizzard! This first round series has been what playoff hockey is all about! Back and forth, neither team surrendering, both teams giving it all they've got! We've seen stellar goaltending, tempers flaring, and beautiful goals from highly talented athletes! It has been dynamite and we expect nothing else tonight! This is the second time these two teams have played a game 7, three seasons ago it was Seattle winning the deciding game in round 2 and moved on to win the Cup! Not many people gave the Blizzard much chance to win this series, the Riot were favored by a landslide in the predictions. Edmonton finished third in the West but only secured their playoff spot on the very last game of the season. However, this team has shown they can play with the big boys! Bolstered by a resurgent Jakub Aittokallio in net, and led by the ageless wonder Lucas Smith, the Blizz have played above expectations so far! Seattle, on the other hand, had a fantastic season finishing second in the West and third overall. They finished the year strong and were still contending for the President's Cup right until the last day! The Riot is one of the deepest teams in the league, with three lines of highly skilled players who can put the puck in the net. On defense they are led by Chuck Winnfield, the odds-on favorite to take home the Scott Stevens award for Season 21. KEYS TO THE GAME 1. Goaltending. Both keepers have had outstanding games to help their teams win, it will be a huge duel between these two all-star caliber goalies. 2. Depth Scoring. The top lines for both teams have been quiet, especially Seattle's top line of Brovalchuk, Winter, and McZehrl. The Blizzard top line has fared better, but have not put the puck in at the pace they did throughout the season. The teams are relying on their second and third lines to contribute on the score sheet. 3. Penalties. Both teams have really good penalty killing, but in every game so far the team with more penalties has lost. You don't want to tire out your best players by putting them in short-handed situations too frequently. X-FACTORS ![]() ![]() The rooks at a charity carwash earlier this season Jackson Rogers-Tanaka, Theo Kane, and Mark Longford have not shown any jitters in their first playoff series, in fact they have been playing very well. They need to stay focused and not let the importance of this game get to them. The vets on the team will be telling them, 'Just approach it as you would any other game'. ![]() ![]() Chara Brojled, Nicholas Flamel, and Thomas King. They may be ladies on the street, but they are freaks on the sheets (of ice). They have been stepping up all series, picking up the scoring slack left by the vanished top trio, and look to do the same tonight! <div align="center"> ****************************************** AND NOW THE STARTING LINEUPS: ![]() ![]() At Center: Kyle Keenan! We're a fluke, so obviously we can't win anything ever. Still, good effort getting this far, team.
