1st Period

The St. Louis Scarecrows managed to avoid elimination last game in St. Louis, but now they are back in the Saloon in Anaheim, on another must-win game! Anaheim had a few uncharacteristic missteps last game, and they look to make up for it tonight in front of a sold out home crowd!

The two captains come together for the ceremonial puck drop at center ice, where there was a little more glaring than usual - it seems like there is quite the mutual dislike from both teams! Those handshakes didn’t look all that friendly it seems!

And for the national anthem, here we have Anna Graceman performing a beautiful rendition:

Thank you Anna!

As the teams come together for the faceoff at center ice, here are the starting lineups!

For Outlaws Anaheim Outlaws, we have:

Ivan Maximus, flanked by Bale and John Forfeit

With the defensive pairing of
Ursin Zimmerman and Nicholas Owens.

Strom Chamberlain is in goal.

For Scarecrows St. Louis Scarecrows, we have the first line out:

Trey Nets, flanked by Ruslan Zaporozhets and James Ronlain

And backed up by

Flash Gordon and Axel Meszaros,

With

Elizabeth Doyle in net.

As the clock counts down, the home crowd is roaring, and both teams get ready to battle - one for survival, the other for the right to hold aloft the Four Star Cup!

And here we go!

Ivan Maximus wins the faceoff against Trey Nets, and draws the puck to the side for Bale. Bale is immediately hit by Flash Gordon, but manages to slide the puck forward for Ivan Maximus to pick up! Maximus moves into the Scarecrows zone and sends a shot towards the net -

BALE STREAKS BY AND TIPS THE SHOT -

But Flash Gordon is there to save the day! He blocks the shot, and it comes out to the blue line where Zimmerman collects the puck, keeping it onside.

Zimmerman shoots - stopped by Doyle with a rebound, which is collected on the near boards by John Forfeit for Anaheim. Forfeit walks the line and lets one go but it didn’t get there - Meszaros blocks the shot!

St. Louis is slow to the puck, and Zimmerman is able to collect the loose puck as Bale and Gordon fight for it. A sharp-angle shot is blocked by Gordon, and Maximus gets the rebound, letting loose immediately with a wrist shot!

Doyle snares the shot with her glove, no rebound.

This is just thirty seconds into the game folks and so far it’s been all Anaheim all the time! Without Doyle there this may have been a very different game entirely.

Danny Marston’s line comes on to take the faceoff against Kevin Robinson. Robinson wins the draw back to Kofix, who passes across to Thurber.

Thurber goes to Petrenko, looking for a one-timer but Petrenko doesn’t like it.

Back to Thurber - HERNADIVIC WITH A GREAT DIVE!

He sweeps the puck back to Marston and streaks out into neutral ice!

Marston passes to Kasius who saucers a pass right on Hernadivic’s tape!

Both Anaheim defencemen were caught flat-footed, and are a few steps behind as Hernadivic breaks into the Anaheim zone. He shrugs off Kofix’s stick and the referee’s hand goes up for a delayed penalty!

Chamberlain comes out to challenge him but Hernadivic isn’t phased!

One deke!

Two dekes!

HERNADIVIC SHOOTS!

Goal HE SCORES! Goal

Chamberlain was a hair too slow and it goes in blocker side! Aron Hernadivic with a breakaway goal, against the momentum that Anaheim had been building up!

What a great effort by Hernadivic, and a great pass by Kasius to get him the puck!

Anaheim is reeling now - this is not going to plan! They’ve controlled the run of play so far but St. Louis found a way to break through and score.

Code:
1. St. Louis Scarecrows , Aron Hernadivic 6 (Erben Kasius 7, Danny Marston 12) at 0:55

Pritchard lines up with Mitsuharu at center ice, wins the draw but is tied up at center ice!

The fans boo, wanting a penalty, but Hudson comes in to steal the puck. He moves into the Anaheim zone, and passes across to Luc-Pierre Lespineau-Lebrunette -

Who leaves a drop pass!

Dangelchek skates onto it and hammers it towards the net!

Chamberlain stacks the pads! He gets the first block, but there’s a big rebound in front!
