Welcome back ladies and gentlemen to the fourth game of the Challenge Cup Finals between the Calgary Dragons and the Tampa Bay Barracuda. These teams have both had exciting stories of playoff action this year, although their tales do not quite fall in the same way. For the Calgary Dragons, the first three rounds were a breeze as the team only dropped a loss in their first-round match up to qualify for the quarter-finals. For the Eastern powerhouse Barracuda, this campaign has been a lot harder. With two six-game series under their belt, the Barracuda have seen a lot more trouble on their way to the top.
Thank you for joining us today here in Calgary at "The Big Parm" arena where we will see these two teams duke it in what could potentially be the final game of the series. The Barracuda, fueled by the fire of a four game winning streak including the first three games of this series have surprisingly been more than capable of keeping the likes of Mike Izzy and Kata Vilde at bay in this series, stifling all attempts from the Dragons to spur a recovery and dominate. With the momentum in their favour and a chokehold on the series lead, the Barracuda run the risk of sitting back and taking their foot off the gas in what could be the final competition. With that said, due to the nature of this game, the Challenge Cup IS IN THE HOUSE.

Please rise for the singing of the national anthem by Calgary's very own, Cody Ko.

Tampa Bay's Kristaps Ball looks ready to go following the anthem singing. It's time for the opening draw.

Matt Kholin and Mike Izzy line up at the center dot for the opening face-off of this game. The ref drops the puck...

and Mike Izzy comes up with a big first possession for the Calgary Dragons. A quick fumble in the neutral zone by Izzy as he attempts to find some room sees Kholin gain control, moving into the offensive end and blazing into the slot. He draws back and fires...

but the puck misses the net! As he recovers the puck, Kholin is flattened by Izzy. These two players sure don't seem to like each other to start off this game.

Kristaps Ball recovers the puck, but Izzy is back for more! Somehow impossibly, Ball gets back on his feet and gains possession once again only to be hit once more by Rainbow Dash. Calgary is showing some ferocity early on in this game.

Code:
0:01 of 1st period - Mike Izzy wins face-off versus Matt Kholin in neutral zone.
0:24 of 1st period - Shot by Matt Kholin.
0:24 of 1st period - Shot Misses the Net.
0:34 of 1st period - Matt Kholin is hit by Mike Izzy.
0:46 of 1st period - Kristaps Ball is hit by Mike Izzy and loses puck.
0:57 of 1st period - Kristaps Ball is hit by Rainbow Dash and loses puck.

The two teams play around with the puck before Esa Parmborg gets a handle on it. He moves it into the Barracuda's end and looks for the pass but can't find a target. With the Barracuda's defenders moving out to the wing to cover potential outlet options, Parmborg has a clear sight to the net. He winds up a shot...

Code:
1:22 of 1st period - Shot by Esa Parmborg.

BUT IT SMACKS INTO THE TOE OF BENJAMIN BLUE! Blue starting off this game already showing some insane acrobatics. Barracuda fans are going crazy after that one.

But it isn't over yet! Nicky Pedersen streaks in from the corner and grabs up the loose rebound. He has open net...

Code:
1:22 of 1st period - Stopped by Benjamin Blue with a rebound.
1:26 of 1st period - Shot by Nicky Pedersen Jr..

But the puck shaves off his stick and goes wide...

Dragons fans are left groaning after a disappointing show of skill from Pedersen on that one. The puck is recovered by the Barracuda who bring it down the ice before Mike Izzy ices it, getting his team a much needed change.

Code:
1:26 of 1st period - Shot Misses the Net.
2:51 of 1st period - Icing by Mike Izzy.

The two teams continue to flirt around with the puck for the next few minutes before Nicky Pedersen gets a little bit ahead of himself as he tries to prevent Barracuda star Gunnar Soderberg from getting out on the rush, taking a hooking penalty in the process.

Code:
6:00 of 1st period - Minor Penalty to Nicky Pedersen Jr. for Hooking.

Dragons fans aren't impressed, but not surprised either.

The Barracuda have a big powerplay opportunity here, taking a one man lead early into this game. Kholin wins a draw in the Dragons end to start off the offensive rush. He moves the puck back to Kristaps Ball who cycles it to Flacko Lagerfield. The Barracuda have the Dragons players moving, and as Kholin steps into the slot to tie up a man, Lagerfield breaks into open ice. He has his eyes set on target and goes for the shot...
