How good are your best AHL-players by the way, for example Pysyk last season, but especially your Forwards? I'm just asking because my AHL-Squad has been struggling a bit, most of my players (except some Rookies) are in the 73-75 range but I start to feel like this isn't enough...

Really not that good, my 2nd line was Teravainen/Frk and they both 63/66 I think.I think I also had quite a few of my draft picks who were mid 50's playing there. Pysyk was 78 overall and had like 96 passing. He was/is a real puck mover. I had (73) Nathan Lieuwen in net and he played very well. I think for us it was more about certain statistics like (PA/WS/SS) or whatever then each players overall. I still have no idea how we made the playoffs. In my opinion I have a better team this year with players like Boullion playing first line minutes on top of former draft picks progressing yet we are not doing very well. It's weird and im still not sure why Tongue .....I'll look into my AHL roster a bit more and see what I can do this year Tongue ...

EDIT:OH, I just remembered I had McNabb in the AHL last season. It went well he's now an 81 overall Dman. So my top pairing was Pysyk-McNabb

To start I have something not about this sim. I am looking for a club since my current one sucks. I have 50 goals and 25 assists in 50 games. I play mostly LW but can play any position on ice. So if anyone has any good clubs open and are willing to take on a member I would happily try out Smile ...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Currently our Sabres are 30-12-1 for 61 points in 43 games. We are 3rd in the league and 2nd in the East (Panthers are first but they have played 8 more games lol)..Mrazek is leading the league in wins with 29 (He basically plays every game Tongue ). Grigorenko/Shinkaruk are tied for 5th in the league in goalscoring, both have 22. Pascal Lemieux is leading rookies in assists /points with 4-29-33.

Current Injuries

Ian Cole-2 months

Tommy Kristiansen-10 weeks (Fuck he was injured long term last season also, he was also playing awesome when he went down Undecided)

(Just simmed to ASG, Shinkaruk/Mrazek made it, damn Sabres got snubbed this year!Wink

5 days before deadline, We have been struggling recently and are currently 38-21-2. I have tried changing up the lines among other things to fix the problem and to nothing.. So I went last resort option and looked a bit harder for a deal for Vanek, I knew one was there to be had just didn't know where. I eventually found a trade partner I have had experience with before in Montreal. I acquire a **** 1/2 star 80 overall 24 year old 3rd liner who IMO is still developing and has a chance to become a top six player. He's a great two way player who can play both the PP/PK. So here's the deal! (I also looked at (85) Hayes from Montreal, he's another great two-way player but at the end of the day I would have to resign him at the end of the year and he would want 4+ million and the Habs wanted more for him, I might revisit Hayes later on though so stay tuned!Wink

TO MON
(83) Thomas Vanek
2020 BUF 3rd round pick

TO BUF
(80)Brendan Gallagher

Deal also clears up Vanek's cpntract which is a nice bonus. Gallagher is also one of my favourite players not in the NHL so another bonus Tongue ...

EDIT: Montreal just traded Hayes to NYR for a first + ....Don't think NYR has that much cap space so Hayes might become a UFA.

Nice deal, former Vancouver Giant headed to Buffalo... I like Gallagher, saw him live on boxing day vs the Marlies, he's got nice hands. Small guy but very slick and reminds me of St. Louis with how he uses his size as an advantage and can move the puck beautifully.

Simmed up to playoffs of 2016-17

First the good news.

Our Buffalo Sabres finished the season 50-26-6. Mrazek finished the season with 49 wins, I think that is tied with Marty Brodeur/Roberto Luongo for a league record. The first half of our season went amazing. We were picking up wins all over the place. Then in the second half we didn't play awful we just didn't play to our potential. That being said we finished first in the entire league. We face the Philadelphia Flyers in the first round (huge turn around for them, I checked the standings earlier this season and they were 2-13)

Now the bad news.

As always we get caught with injuries right in the last few weeks of the season. Schenn went down for 5 weeks around 2 weeks before the playoffs. McNabb is out for 7 weeks and had that injury around a week before the playoffs. Now the big one, we lost Hunter Shinkaruk for 3 weeks 2 days before the playoffs. Hunter scored 45 goals for us and was our go to guy. Obviously that hurts but other guys are going to have to stepup if we want a chance at advancing.

Philadelphia has a pretty good lineup. Their forwards are all developed through the Flyers system. Still have Giroux/Voracek/Simmonds/Hartnell/Briere. They have Brent Seabrook on defence who is a pretty big piece to their lineup. Then in net they have (83)Cory Schneider. Obviously they have a pretty good team but even with our key injuries I think we should be able to pull out of this series the winner.

Game 1

PHI 4 BUF 2

Game 2

BUF 4 PHI 2

Game 3

PHI 3 BUF 2

Game 4

PHI 4 BUF 3

Game 5 (Shinkaruk back)

BUF 2 PHI 1 (Shinkaruk 2 assists)

Game 6

BUF 3 PHI 2

Game 7

BUF 4 PHI 3 (Shinkaruk 3 assists)

Wow. That was a great series. We were horrible first few games but when Shinkaruk came back we completely changed our game. I would compare this to Chicago getting Bolland back a few seasons ago and rallying from being down 3-0 in the series to tying it. Only our series had the better outcome. Great way to start the playoffs!

EDIT: Lost Girgensons longterm in game 7...FUCK

We move on to face the Washington Capitals. A team that has the core of the Washington Capitols of present day intact. We'll have to be able to shut down the dynamic duo of Ovechkin/Backstrom if we want to have a chance in this series. They also have a ton of depth scoring. There starting goalie is (83) Michal Neuvirth so we have the advantage in net. Now the series!

Game 1

BUF 3 WSH 0

Game 2

BUF 3 WSH 1

Game 3

BUF 2 WSH 1

Game 4

BUF 3 WSH 2

So we really elevated our level of play for this series, doing a great job of shutting down Ovi/Backstrom. We also finish up early and allow some players to return from injury.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Round 3 pits us against the dangerous New York Rangers. They also still have their core intact and were bolstered by a deadline acquisition of (85) PWF Jimmy Hayes (a player I had also had interest in @ the deadline).. So anyway's here's the series.

Game 1

NYR 3 BUF 2

Game 2

NYR 4 BUF 3

Game 3

BUF 2 NYR 1

Game 4

BUF 3 NYR 1

Game 5

Buf 2 NYR 1

Game 6

NYR 3 BUF 1

Game 7

NYR 3 BUF 2

...Well that was not the way I was hoping it to end. I thought we would be able to win a cup this season to be honest. We definetely had a team that would be able to. Anyway's it happened and next season I think we will be even better! Georges Boullion along with Aaron Ekblad will both be NHL ready. Georges Boullion is going to be a great 3rd liner for the upcoming season, great two way player who is really strong with the puck. I see Ekblad becoming basically the 2nd coming of Shea Weber. He has a sick shot and is great defensively. Along with all the prospects we have drafted in the first few rounds I think we will be back and better then ever next season!

So this is going to have to be a bigger off-season than I had originally expected, but I will get to that after a draft recap. We had picks 28, 53 and 58. So here they are. (Again all *** 1/2 stars)

(28) LW SNP Sergej Klementyev: First of all he wasn't drafted because he has the same name as another former pick of mine (although it's a huge +)..He was the top player on the draft board when I came up to pick, he already has a pretty sick shot and I think he will be NHL ready around the same time as his brother.

(53) TWD Gilbert Devereaux: He was a player I had considered @ 28 and was shocked when he was still on the board. He is listed as a TWD but looking at his stats he is a complete offensive minded dman. He is already 70 overall and I think we could be in the same position as we were with Pascal Lemieux a few years back.

(58) PWF Gord Stanfield: A 5'11 214 pound PWF who I felt was the BPA for the pick. It looks like if he develops like I hope he could become a good 3rd liner. Also his last name is from the Wire so I like that too Tongue ...

As always, rest don't matter.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

HUGE season for player development!!!!

Player Dev:
Pascal Lemieux 83-85
Brendan Gallagher 80-83(Looks like I am going to win the Vanek trade)
Sam Reinhart 84-84 (Not his fault, was playing 4th line minutes  )
Marty Frk 69-72 (hope for him yet)
Teuvo Teravainen 66-69 (Right behind Frk, hopefully one of the two turn out)
Landon Springer 63-67
Bo Horvat 59-63 ( Y u develop so slow)
Milan Sedlak 58-62
Ruslan Klementyev 57-60
Tero Rintanen 55-60
Preston Fitzpatrick 57-61
Aaron Ekblad 79-82

So those were the smaller ones, it gives you a look at how deep our prospect pool is coming along! Now for the big two.

Mark Pysyk 84-89 (Wow, becoming a franchise Dman. Might look into moving Myers in a season or two when Ekblad takes his spot on top pair)

Ok, now this ones shocking. I did not expect this at all...I expected this player to become between 85-88...I have never got a **** 1/2 player to become this good before, but it happened :o ...

Petr Mrazek 85-92

As much as it was criticized when it happened, even by me. I think we ended up winning the Miller trade, we basically got the same goalie + a **** prospect in Frk and a **** 1/2 star prospect in Horvat..Very pleased with with what's happened

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ok now to get to the bigger part of the off-season. Usually I don't post contracts because I have been able to mostly keep my cap under control. This year however everything has changed...It of course would when you have Hunter Shinkaruk, Alex Galchenyuk, Sam Reinhart and the great Petr Mrazek all coming into their 2nd contracts.

ATM it looks like I will have to deal two of Ennis/Schenn/Girgensons.. I am leaning towards Girgensons and one of the others. Reinhart should really be our 3rd line centre and Girgensons is a UFA next season. As much as I have loved Girgensons in his time here I think its time to move on....

EDIT: Actually thinking about it in my head, I might deal all three I think they are all replaceable in my orginization and can get quite a price for each of them! (I pondered trading (7.75) Jonathan Huberdeau but decided it would make a mess out of our top six.)

Actually I do think I'll keep Zemgus. As much as he's sucked in a 3rd line roll I love the type of player he is Tongue ...He has 36 discipline so consistency puts up over 150 pms and is also a great fighter.

So I started with Ennis, I shopped him around a bit and didn't get a ton of what I was looking for. However did eventually find a trade partner in Tampa Bay

TO TB
(83) Tyler Ennis
(77) Tohann Auvitu

TO BUF
TB 2018 1st round pick

Just so everyone know's Auvitu was a depth player I signed last season who I forgot to post about. That's all he really is though, a depth player who can come up if injuries happen and play around 10-20 games. TB was one of the worst teams last season so hopefully they remain that way. Got around 4.75 million off the books by trading Ennis.

So now the Schenn trade..I targeted a player I previously wanted when I made the Hodgson trade. I eventually went with Bouillion because he was the better player. This player has stayed on my radar however and I finally got the chance to acquire him. He was another first overall pick and he will develop into a great two way forward if all goes well.. This trade is similar to the Bouillion trade as its also 3 for 1.

TO NJD
(84)Luke Schenn
Joonas Jalvanti
BUF 2020 2nd round pick

TO BUF
(**** 1/2)Steve Liffiton

Jalvanti's another one of those depth signings I forgot to post Tongue ...I think right away I lost this trade but in the future it's a big win. Are centre depth continues to be a foot higher then everyone else's and I think that is going to be a big factor if we ever win a cup. Now have 17.220 million. (I also have to resign Gallagher and he wants around 4.7 million, that's why I need so much Tongue .)

Mrazek signs 6 years 9.3 million.

Gallagher signs 4 years 4.7 million.

So after those two signings I am left with around 3.745. (BTW I had to release Kristiansen even though I really didn't want to..)

Sign (77) Jens Westin and (77) Maxime Legault as depth. Then realized my fourth line was terrible and signed (75) Tyler Brown and (76) Tyler Zaborsky. This is the least amount of cash I have worked with in a long time...I'm obviously a bit worried about how loosing two impact player's will affect the lineup but I think we have player's that can replace them...

EDIT: If anyone wants to know the overall's or anything of certain player's regardless of the team just post. I will happily reveal them Smile .

They were as bad as I said. They finished last, last season and have a horrible looking team.

But of course, just my luck. I re-united Ennis/Gerbe in Tampa Bay and they are some how money. TB is 5-1 through their first 6 games. Im hoping the wheels fall off when the games become bigger but atm it's looking like I lost the deal.
