At the thirteen minute mark, Cyril Vyskoc lays the body on Gylfi Eriksson and carries the puck into the Knights zone. His shot misses the net, and bounces to Danny White, who does the same.

Vyskoc gets the puck again, and this time he sees Del Vecchio slightly out of position in the crease. He shoots!

But Luciano Vessot slides in front of the puck to keep it away from his net!

Ryan Cvitkovich manages to pick up the loose puck and place a shot on goal, but by this time Del Vecchio has managed to get across and makes the easy save.

We're at the 16 minute mark of the first period, and Jay Reeves carries the puck out of his own zone and into the Knights'.

Del Vecchio looks like his attention is split between Reeves and the other Armada forward with him, but trusts his defense to shut down the passing lane, and squares up directly at Reeves.

Sure enough, there's a quick shot on goal...

Oh baby what a save! Luca Del Vecchio put some mustard on that one. He windmills the puck down with his glove and shouts a word of encouragement towards the defenders.

Just a minute later, Josef Novotny gains the zone and stalls at the point while his teammates set up near the goal. He flicks a tricky wobbler at Venables, and even though it looks simple enough to track it, Theo Golury gets a stick on it before it can get to the goalie...

Ian Venables shows off his phenomenal reaction time for all to see, as he shifts his body to get in front of the deflection.

You get the sense that the two goalies are feeding off each other's performances.

It's announced all around the arena that there's one minute of play remaining in the first period, and the puck finds its way to Theo Golury, who flights it in on Venables while off balance.
