Donation Incentive System?

Coming from the game industry originally I'd say stay away from the micro transaction and virtual economic ideas. That'll just cause issues with the current structure we have. I'd go the route of just asking for donations. Like don't become the VHL.

You'd also have certain issues morally to people who over spend and it's why they are so many issues in the game industry. Not just that we have stuff on here you can't make money off of e.g the jets!

Another I'd would be make a donator role or badge. It's purely visual. You could have a forum for it and discord group. The reward if there is one should impact the site in any way than visually.

Definitely for it... However I do like the idea of avoiding giving TPE that cannot be acquired outside of donating. So that leaves some ideas:

-Double media/graphics
-PT passes
-Equipment/Weekly Trainings
-Straight up money
-Special forum/discord access/privileges
-Hire someone to make customised sigs for those who donate

I think there should definitely be a cap on the amount of rewards one can get per season too.

Also, can we get a breakdown of the current expenditures, proposed budget, and current donation intake? I think if we did this and made a donation push among members without any TPE or money incentives we could get quite a bit of money in.

This. A roadmap of where we are and where we want to go would be great. I'd happily donate without any incentive, and I feel like if there's a clear plan in place a lot more people would feel the same way.

let me throw another one into the mix.

What about having a site telethon!

Every XX sesons we dedicate 1 week as donation week.. to start off we get some of our most talented people on the site to donate there time to help create donation packages for members who contribute. Graphic guys to make donation sigs and posters, video guys to create a video package etc .. and then we create a sub section (wall of honors?) for donating members.. with there names highlighted for all to see.

As an example:
- $XX = 1 donation sig, 1 profile badge
- $XX - 1 donation poster with your player on it, 1 donation sig, 1 profile badge
- $XX - Added to the donation wall of honors (subsection) Donation video, 1 donation sig, 1 profile badge

We put up a projected amount wed like to aquire (with explanation to where that money goes) and we follow the amount which has been donated throughout the week...during donation week we can get a host for it... during the week we can run some raffles for SHL money or TPE! (5 dollar donatiuon gets you a raffle ticket!)

We can make money for the site, highlight the members helping and have some fun around it.  #Team_Telethon

i like this idea, would def be willing to throw in a sig or two Smile
all i need is time, HO would have to let us know in advance, and the donators cant expect their stuff immediately.

On another note, a bunch of people apparently dont know that there already is a badge for donating. its a heart dollar bill thingy - i know @njbadapple has it, go look at any of his posts

My biggest concern is, how would that impact our PT reciprocity agreement with NSFL and PBE? Would they be willing to accept a PT Pass as a welfare check? If not, we lose a big piece of the site's most dedicated audience as potential donors.

The NSFL actually has a PT pass per season that's given to job holders like Simmer or PT team, I can't imagine it would be all that different. A SHL user would just have to link to their comment that says PT pass.

I know you'd lose those from the PBE as they're not accepted there as they don't and won't have an equivalent there.

There already is a donator badge.

This is what I proposed -

$5 – Donation Badge, One “PT Pass”.
$10 – Donation Badge, Three “PT Passes”.
$20 – Donation Badge, “PT Season Pass”.
The PT passes may be turned in to claim full TPE rewards for completing a PT task. This is only applicable towards the weekly seasonal PTs (PT1, PT2, PT3, PT4, etc). The “PT Season Pass” will cover a full season’s PTs and CW tasks. These rewards could be claimed once per season.

That way people who hate writing media have another alternative that directly benefits the site. I would have the capped amount somewhere between 4-8M per season that way you cannot pay your way to every training and equipment but can lessen the load of work needed to get money if you do not have a job onsite.

I think this is a good idea and having a seasonal cap is critical, both a personal cap and probably a league wide cap too so that it become a recurring staple rather than a one time drive.

Good idea, give me a day and I’ll piece that together for you.

A thought I had privately but haven't mentioned publicly yet. What about limited-time badges, either per-season or during selected donation drive windows? If people are worried about the in-game impact, badges are the closest we have to cosmetics. They're also repeatable, unlike the current donation badge system.

Imo it would make more sense to be able to donate for PTs than shl money. Money makes contracts worth less. There are already so many people taking low contracts because they get money elsewhere.
