Draft Pick Tracker

I just caught up witht his whole issue, and honestly, if it is going to ruin the enjoyment of the site for a certain member (Storm), why put him through so many hurdles to reach what he wants to do, and be the co-GM of New England? If another team snatches him on spite, you are creating a precedent for this to occur in the future with a different member, and causing that person a great annoyance too.

Just my two cents on the issue.

I still don't know what side I'm on in this debate, but I can see from both sides why they'd be upset. If storm is taken late in the third or fourth round people could cry foul about a gm being picked with such a late pick. But on the other hand if another team took him they could cry foul that he's just being held for ransom and could cost him any activity in the league.

It's a tough call.

I agree that I see both sides. Frankly, I'm mostly just annoyed that I'd asked multiple times before choosing Storm as GM what the draft rules were for GMs and Co-GMs and never gotten a straight answer, so I didn't know the 3 seasons rule ahead of time. The fact that it's literally not in the Rules section anywhere seriously bugs me. An announcement is great, but if it's not in the Rules section four seasons (or however long it's been) later, it's hard to expect it to be known as a rule.

(Obviously, the auto second rounder still wouldn't work right now since NEW apparently doesn't have a 2nd, but that's not the point.)

What if we simply allowed New England to exchange their second round selection next draft, in exchange for Storm? They still are forced to give up a second round pick for him, and Storm gets to still GM and be where he desires.

I told Prettyburn it will be a shit choice RIGHT NOW! and I was right! She had better asked an other member who don't recreate or so! then after the draft she had the chance to name Storm to the Co-GM ... or better She had worked alone!

she don't wanted to hear of me! now NEW has this issue! they must live with that Wink

Quite the opposite. We don't want this to happen, at all.

You said that after she decided/announced. Not before. because we didn't know.

She didn't know the rule, and she couldn't change it after you/other people point it out. Lol. I'm sure, she would have listened to you. It was just that it was a little too late. I don't think anybody argued with you about it, including PB. It was just already announced and she couldn't change it.

She must knew it! Ace had told her this! because Ace wanted surely who would be the new Co-GM! but if not .... she came at first in the LR and then she made it public and I told it here via PM and not LR Wink

so maybe I knew it a little bit earlier!

back to topic! NEW must live with it! no way out

Got ya. didn't know about the PM. My bad. Even though in our LR you just asked if Ace told PB about recreates, lol. I think our language barrier is messing this convo up, so I'm just going to stop cluttering this thread up.

Rules are rules for a reason. If we say for one member that they can have whatever it is they want, then we have to do it for others. Then we just have teams where people are all with their friends because "Oh they wouldn't be as happy elsewhere" and no one meets new people and the bad teams never have a chance at people.

Also there is precedent for this kind of situation. Nike had to TRADE for FIRST OVERALL to become GM. Otherwise he was going to be blocked from getting what he really wanted. Players constantly say they'll only go to one team and it almost never fails that someone else drafts them, ask Carl. You get to go for them with your first pick, we give that courtesy. After that, if you didn't make them your top priority it isn't our fault if they're also best for us in a certain spot.

If we start accommodating people like this, then fuck rules right? Why has Edmonton been holding our 2nds every season just in case Keenan retires and we need it? We can just trade one in any fucking time.

Rules are rules. Sorry to New England, but its how it works. And they appear to understand that, and I have a lot of respect for how they've handled it.

An old man's dream ended. A young man's vision of the future opened wide. Young men have visions, old men have dreams. But the place for old men to dream is beside the fire.

I cannot refute a single word you just said, but is it not unfortunate that Storm, someone who I know is a really good person and member is going to get punished from this situation? That just seems a bit harsh for him, if he truly wants this.

He's not being punished, just following the rules. Hopefully things will work out - he's a great Co and he and I both want him to continue on.

That said, to McZ and Sherrill, I would NOT make a different choice had I been fully aware of the rule. I might have worded it differently - called Storm an "Interim Co-GM" or something to acknowledge that the status could change at the end of the season - but NEW had an amazing season with him as our co- and if I hadn't named him I doubt we'd be in the finals. Would I prefer to avoid the drama and uncertainty? Sure. Would I trade it for being in the finals? Not a chance.

I'm interested to see who NEW trades to get a 2nd to try and get a great guy. He's worth the pick. I'd argue trading for a 1st and just trade down once you see the interest on draft day. Get value now and later.

If there wasn't a rule in place for this i would name every re-creating Rene as my Co-GM.
I don't think anybody is going to draft him and then purposely keep him just to spite him and ruin his enjoyment.
If he gets drafted by another team i don't think you're an "asshole" for expecting NEW to give up fair value for him.

and a 2nd rounder probably isn't even fair value, considering he's a top 5-10 prospect in this draft.
