Donation Incentive System?

We’re just letting the league put its considerable group intellect to use in a positive manner

If it's for something simple like a badge, trophy, title, whatever. Sure.

If it's for tpe in any way, or shl money? Nah.

What if we added real money to the SHL Casino? So players would have the option of betting SHL money or real money (say a scale of $1 = $100k of SHL money) but all payouts are done in SHL money. So if you lose your Casino bet it would just be a donation and if you win your Casino bet then you get SHL money for your donation.

Would be a way to incentivize donations without giving anyone a big advantage. Basically betting at the SHL Casino without any risk to your SHL bank account.

As a somewhat frequent gambler, that would absolutely be a legal issue.

HOWEVER

For the USA at least, it would fall under state jurisdiction, NOT federal, since there is actually a lack of laws against this in federal courts (I have no idea why)... which would make a huge difference in terms of penalties, sentencing, fines, etc. Either way, not a good idea at all for us.

Paid ads + more prominent donation system sounds a little sketch to me. At that point, SHL is like a f2p cash shop video game that uses likenesses and trademarks (e.g. renders and literally the jets) without having licenses and shit.

First of all, I wouldn't mind donating in general.

Some ideas though: Can't we come up with something that gives those people that donate some extra features on the site that regular users don't have (and maybe not even necessarily need)? I was thinking of something like the old reddit premium (formly gold) or a last.fm subscription etc. Of course what won't work here is the option to pay to get rid of ads, because we don't have them here (luckily), but those 2 sites mentioned usually include some extra features in your profile, access to certain sub-forums with extra historical information about the league or why not special signatures for people that donate or I don't know what else. Perhaps we can even add something else to the new bank that only subscribers can access. Those are all ideas, maybe people can come up with more or better ones. btw. I don't like paying for TPE either.

As far as the part about reddit recruitment goes, I have some contacts there too, so if I can help there, let me know.

It's too early in the morning for me too have any better ideas right now.

Honestly? I would pay money for a cool little badge where championships go and maybe the ability to add my own title once, I've been yelling at @"DrunkenTeddy" to make me the "master of coin and lofty titles" for months
