After a solid minute of neutral zone play, the Rage manage to generate a scoring chance: Rainbow Dash finds the puck on the boards, and tricks a San Francisco defender by faking one way and cutting to the slot. Their shot is a sharp one, and before it can get on net, it's tipped by Anastasia O'Koivu...

But Chris Partridge knocks it down with his blocker and the Pride clear.

The best way to keep a scorer from scoring? Make sure he's not on his skates!

That must've been what Andrej Doskocil was thinking when he leveled the game's lone goal scorer in the neutral zone.

An embarrassed Filip Zadina brushes himself off and finishes his shift before returning to the bench, with an audible slamming of the gate.

If there's one thing that the Pride have excelled at all night, it's gaining the zone. Their successes must've been fresh on the mind of Anastasia O'Koivu, who held onto the stick of Piotr Czerkawski as he was transitioning into the offensive zone.

That'll be two minutes or less, and the Pride seem determined to pick up their performance on the power play.

But it doesn't look like they can.

Their lone chance with the man advantage comes from a shot by Steven Moyer; a knuckler that has the trickery of shot that sneaks by a goalie, but none of the required velocity. Larson handles it without trouble.

Other than a couple of missed shots by Dominic Montgomery, the Rage escape the penalty kill unscathed, and O'Koivu returns to the bench.

Does this guy ever stop?

Andrej Doskocil hits Dominic Montgomery again, this time in the Manhattan zone. There's a moment where it looks like the two are about to square off, but a quick intervention by the officials manages to cool down tempers.

Die-hard Raiders fans everywhere breathe a sigh of relief as a couple of their favored alumni narrowly avoid getting into a fist fight.

More scrappy neutral zone play threatens to dull the pace of the game, and it looks like the period is going to expire with little incident, when a nifty pass by Charlie Schieck finds Piotr Czerkawski behind the Manhattan defense!

Czerkawski is on a mini break away, and fakes a shot on the forehand before sliding it to his backhand and elevating the puck toward the top-right corner...

But Larson gets a piece of it! The puck deflects off his shoulder into the air and onto the top of the net, and after some mild shoving between the Pride forwards and Rage defense, the linesman blows the play dead.

Perhaps the most clear-cut chance of the game. Larson did well to keep that one out.

With less than a minute to go in the second, the game starts to heat up again. After all, it is anybody's game at this point.

Nathan Explosion uses a burst of speed to find Luke Thomason in a vulnerable position in the neutral zone, and he flattens the veteran forward.

Moments later, Phineas Gold has a chance to answer back...

...And does so by sending Tokek Takshak sliding across the ice on his back!

There are insults exchanged between the benches, as both teams seem to see the preceding hits as being predatory against their players.

There's some talk among the officials, but no penalties result, and the remaining seconds tick down to end the second period.

The period ends with both teams swearing revenge on the other.

The score is

San Francisco 1 - 0 Manhattan

and San Francisco just edged out Manhattan in the shots department, 6 to 5. The totals thus far in the game are 18-7 in favor of the Pride.
