SHL - S27 - Game 6 - TEX Vs. CGY
#31

Ignant wins the defensive zone draw, and despite getting knocked down by Randleman, the Renegades take the puck up ice. Mikhail Krivokrasov tries a short handed shot, but the glove of Hunter Wong cannot be beat as both goalies remain perfect.

Kudleychuk wins the faceoff and the Renegades PK is able to kill off half a penalty by controling the puck. The Boo Birds are out now as the home crowd is not liking the effort they are seeing from their special teams unit. VLAD McZehrl tries to silence them with a shot on Weekes, but the ease in which he traps the puck only feeds the crowd’s displeasure.

Kuddleychuk wins the draw back to his teammate Geoffrey Allen who is able to ice it. But when the Dragons come the other way with it Allen finds himself on the wrong end of a big Jalopski hit.

And the ensuing turnover gives Labsvārds the chance to put one on Weekes!

But he deflects it away.

Esa misses the net on two subsequent shot attempts, followed by Labsvārds failing to hit Weekes twice. Now Jalopski shoots it off net… Jesus guys, the goalies are killing it this game and you want to help them out by missing the net more? Make these guys makes saves.

Esa Anrikkanen is going to try just that…
#33

And he does. He makes Jackson Weekes make a save.

That effectively ends the Power Play and the period for Calgary. Shots this period are again in the home team’s favor 8 to 6 as neither goalie faced much heat this period. Maybe the floodgates open in the third period?

I forgive you.

Tsizling has not had the greatest night for a Texas blueliner, and that is going to continue here at the start of the third with a hooking penalty.

The Dragons win the draw and Palat comes barreling into the puck carrier, Pederson. The Dragon takes except to the hit and chops at Palat, who swiftly gives him a two handed swat across his shins while on the ground. The arm goes up and Hunter Wong is skating hard to the bench. Labsvārds floats one in on Weekes, just to give up the puck and maximize Calgary’s upcoming 5 on 3 man advantage.

With two defenders in the box on a three man penalty kill Texas can’t help but feel like their up the creek without a paddle.

LOL just kidding. The Dragons only attempted two shots in their 1:53 5 on 3. Jackson Weekes saved them both. Goalies reign supreme.

No one is ever going to score.

I’m quitting my job and writing this play-by-play forever until I die.

7:50 into the third period. Calgary has doubled Texas in terms of shots on goal (aided by their early power plays), it now stands 24-12 but the only counters that matter are still stuck at 0.

And with their 5th straight penalty, Texas sends the Dragons man advantage back out there thanks to a Wyatt Wolker hook. Watching the special teams skate out there you’d almost think they’d just as soon play 5 on 5.
#38

Jackson is stone cold in net again. 3 saves, this time on Boychuk, Zoidberg, and Mack.

After the penalty expires Maxim Horvat tries to keep things respectable with a shot on net of his own. And let’s give Hunter Wong a lot of credit here, he’s been just as solid as the man on the other end of the ice.

6 minutes left in the regulation and we are still scoreless. Can anyone stop the madness?

Carl Mountain lays out a devastating hit in the offensive zone for Texas. Kudleychuk has the puck and he’s going to try to bring it in close and jam it in on net. But Alex Mack is there and he’s got his stick down in time to push it back to the slot. But Kudleychuk is persistent and he’s trying again, but the puck just skoots over to the corner. Kuddles tries to chase it, but he gets tangled up with Boychuk, and Ignant is the one who gets to the puck first.

Ignant wheels back out in front of the net and tries a wrister, but Alex Mack has been a magnet for pucks and gets a piece of it. He outworks the Texas forecheck and gets his stick on it but the sound of a whistle throws him off.

Michael Boychuk is being taken off for the first Dragon PK of the game after his earlier interference.

Texas will have a chance to even the shot totals and try to grab a late goal to help them take this game back to the Lonestar State.

Texas starts the man advantage off with a face-off loss, but then!
#41

Generic suspense post
#42

Nothing happened. Calgary forces Texas to no shots in the first minute and a half of their man advantage.

Hunter Wong killing penalties with his eyes closed.
#44

As we start to close in on regulation both sides are getting desperate. Desperate and cheap.

Liam Kinsler takes a big run at Pergher, then Boychuk retaliates against Jed Lloren. And Lloren gets a little extra as Boychuk gives the newest Renegade a welcome to the rivalry with a check while he’s down.

The refs aren’t going to let him get away with that one and the arms go up.
#45

Boychuk has blessed Texas with two power plays late in the third. Jackson Weekes has not had to be in this period as much, and the Renegades are thankful for that.

But they are most thankful for the vicious hit that Esa Anrikkanen puts on Jed Lloren 7 second into the man advantage.

That’s right boys and girls, with less than two minutes to go Texas has a two man advantage and the chance to end this game before it goes on any further.
