And we're back!

The second period begins as every period does in hockey, the classic, the imposing, neutral zone faceoff. Anrikkanen manages to beat Kinsler, but the Renegades were ready for it. A bit of back and forth, five skaters outmatching four skaters, drifting ever closer to the Calgary goal.

Ogorodnikov finally seeing some action, looks up and has the puck on his stick, so fires off a quick one...

but Wong is there! He smothers it, leading to another faceoff.

Once again Anrikkanen wins the draw, and his team manages to dump the puck waaaaayyyy deep. Texas makes several attempts to set up shooting lanes, get a good cycle going, but the Calgary PK holds strong.

Weekes holds the puck right next to the net, and Kinsler swoops in to take it, thank you kindly. To Lidstrom, to Krivokrasov, back to Lidstrom, back to Kinsler, back to Lidstrom... It's like watching one of those office toys with the five balls on strings, I'll tell you what.

Lidstrom is lined up with the puck near the blue line, but there's a whole mess of bodies in front of the net. He winds up, fires another slapper towards the frantically searching Wong...

This is followed by about 15 minutes of even strength dump-and-chase, shots going wide, and a distinct lack of excitement. I'm pretty sure I saw one of the players with his phone out on the ice, that's how boring it was. Now back to the fun stuff!

17 minutes into the second period, faceoff in the Texas zone. Horvat wins the duel, gets the puck to Lloren. Another good sequence of crisp passes from the Renegades, Tsizling finds himself with the puck, moves to pass to-

Zoidberg dives and pokes it away before the puck even leaves Tsizling's stick! Jalopski swings in and snags the loose puck, skating towards the ultimate objective, of beating Weekes. A flurry of short passes, encompassing the entire Dragons lineup (on the ice at the time), and Anrikkanen takes a shot!

Wide of the goal! Labsvards pounces on the puck...

The score now sitting pretty at 3-1 in favor of Calgary, the local fans are only getting more and more rowdy as their beloved Renegades are down by two. I can do basic math.

Kudleychuk and Pedersen taking the faceoff in the neutral zone this time around. The American with the suspiciously Russian last name wins the draw, and his team picks it up. About a minute of lame horizontal hockey, but suddenly, a breakthrough!

Tsizling sends it forward to Horvat, sauce to-

Hill getting in the way! Long pass to Jalopski, who's been waiting in the wings even though it's entirely unclear what position he plays. Sideways to Anrikkanen, keeps cycling towards-

Tsizling lunges and pokes the puck loose! He frantically lobs it towards where he thinks his teammates are, but Hill is already on top of him! Dishes it back to Anrikkanen, who resumes what he was doing three seconds ago, i.e. moving the puck around.

He rifles off a shot!
