Maui recovers the puck and goes for a wild slapshot from the point... but Kata Vilde makes an easy save. The Dragons kill off the rest of the powerplay with relative ease.

We pick up play just prior to the half way mark of this first period. Barry Batsbak and Nolan Sawchuk are lined up at the circle for the draw in the Dragons end. Batsbak steps in an ties up Sawchuk, gaining control of the puck. A sharp hit from Trevor Wilson knocks him off balance, but Maui sweep in to try and grab the puck and accidently finds his stick pulling at the ankles of Batsbak, lifting him into the air.

Maui will serve time for that one.

The draw is in the Barracuda's end to start this Dragons powerplay. Batsbak once again beats his Tampa Bay counter part in Matt Kholin, and whips it back to Otis B. Driftwood. Driftwood sits at the top of the circle and let's his team mates get into position. The Dragons cycle the puck around.

Driftwood to Dash, Dash to Izzy, Izzy back to Dash...

A slow approach to a power play, but you can feel an energy in the air. Nicky Pedersen is suddenly alone in front of the net. Kristaps Ball scrambles to get in the way, but Dash's pass has already connected with Pedersen's tape!

Pedersen is all alone with plenty of time! It's just him and Blue!

And Blue makes the save! But wait! There is a dispute between the officials, as it appears Blue may have slid back into the net before the whistle had been blown!

The refs begin to converse, and upon video review...

The Dragons continue to unleash a barrage on Blue, but can't seem to find the back of the net as the Barracuda go 1/1 on the penalty kill.

We resume in the sixteenth minute of the first period. Mike Izzy wins the draw against Kholin in the the Dragons end. He's quickly hit by Lagerfield, but the puck is recovered by Maxime Bouchard.

Bouchard is coming down the wings and makes a dangerous cross ice pass to Shooter McGavin get the puck into the Barracuda's end. McGavin stops and waits before seeing Izzy, now deep into the Barracuda's end. McGaving pushes the puck down the boards, and it's recovered by Izzy...

Izzy has an odd angle, but takes the shot, it smacks Benjamin Blue's glove and hits the ice, rolling about with no control...
