- .bojo - 05-29-2015 Problem is it makes more sense to attempt that rather than an draft an inactive. - RomanesEuntDomus - 05-29-2015 If you are trying to steal a first round caliber talent in the third round by trying to pressure the league into letting him fall then you certainly don't deserve anyones sympathy for your situation. - Winter is Coming - 05-29-2015 At the same junctre though, it might be unfair to give a team all the power. If someone is truly not happy where they are drafted, having to wait three seasons is forever in SHL time. Granted it stops this co-GM issue, but it may create some more tension down the line. Just my two cents. - prettyburn - 05-29-2015 Quote:Originally posted by RomanesEuntDomus@May 29 2015, 04:18 PMNEW hasn't ever, ever said this, though. Other people keep telling us not to - but seriously, we have never even implied we'd do this. Give me some credit, everyone. - Kel - 05-29-2015 Quote:Originally posted by Winter is Coming@May 29 2015, 04:20 PMIf someone's not happy then a trade would be made OR they could wait three months pretty much not doing anything as Storm wouldn't be eligible to play in the SMJHL, have the general manager job, nor would he technically have locker room access. This should be the same thing here for New England. It's kind of an Eric Lindros situation and we could see a trade that's similar. - RomanesEuntDomus - 05-29-2015 Quote:Originally posted by Winter is Coming@May 29 2015, 10:20 PM I think there is a big difference between not wanting to play for a one team or a few teams (which is understandable) and ONLY wanting to play for one specific team. - RomanesEuntDomus - 05-29-2015 Quote:Originally posted by prettyburn@May 29 2015, 10:22 PM Maybe it wasn't you who said this then but I've heard this kind of argument out of NEW quite a bit when reading through this thread. - Kel - 05-29-2015 Quote:Originally posted by RomanesEuntDomus@May 29 2015, 04:25 PMExactly. - prettyburn - 05-29-2015 Quote:Originally posted by RomanesEuntDomus@May 29 2015, 04:25 PMYeah, players on the Pack (and others totally unaffiliated) have said this, but management 100% does not hold that opinion. - Kel - 05-29-2015 Also, pretty much everyone on your team thinks that if someone picks him then they're making a douchebag move, but why would 11 other teams let a first round caliber player fall for free? It's not a bad move because Storm's pretty much an interim assistant general manager. EDIT: Whether he was a top ten pick or not there isn't going to be an active player that you can take at 29th overall. There may be a barely active player that's under 200 TPE. - storm - 05-29-2015 Quote:Originally posted by prettyburn@May 29 2015, 04:27 PM ![]() Never have we said we expect me to fall to the 3rd round. - fgh - 05-29-2015 Inb4 NEW trades future 1st for Storm - RomanesEuntDomus - 05-29-2015 I mean the easiest solution would be to just trade a future 2nd for a 2nd this year... - JNH - 05-29-2015 This is great and all, but why don't we wait until New England is out of the playoffs and can focus on how they're going to move their assets in the offseason. If they then fail to move for a pick above theirs, then the debate can continue. But at this time, everyone is arguing over a hypothetical situation that in a week, may not even matter at all. So why not make better use of our time and do something while we wait to see how it plays out? - prettyburn - 05-29-2015 Quote:Originally posted by JNH@May 29 2015, 04:40 PM>:D< Also, I understand how the draft works everyone, it's cool. You don't have to explain that good prospects get picked higher than inactives. |
