having the commish on your team has its benefits B)[/b]
Tru dat. Just look at the some of the SHL's "history". Not taking shots at anyone or anything, just stating the facts.

Hey Mike, does this mean Hamilton's getting another cup win soon? To commemorate you christening as commish? Tongue

When I recreate, can a team let me be GM for 20 minutes so I can draft myself?

I wanna pull a Nike.

No, you don't. It generally hurts a franchise. Plus you aren't worth a first in any draft

If I was a GM and he was the best player available at my pick, I'd take him. Worse case I ransom him back to NEW. Best case, I convince him my team is better than NEW. Either way it's not a bad strategy and it will certainly make for an exciting story line to this year's Draft.

Actually worse/most likely case is you don't get anything at all....like seriously nothing. Haha. A GM that is going to do this might as well just trade their 3rd round pick for absolutely nothing. Its essentially the same thing, other then making storm wait a season.

Like I said, it would be different if it was a forward or something, but Samsinov wouldn't be a starter for at least 2 seasons(hopefully we can find a semi active goaltender to play for us)...So it wouldn't really be that big of a deal for him to just not sign or even accept a "ransom" trade. Tongue

I don't think anybody is trying to circumvent, its not like I am saying that NOBODY CAN PICK HIM. Someone can pick him, he just follows the rules of not signing and being sent back down and that GM wastes a pick. If it was a really shallow draft where someone would be deciding to pass or not, I could maybe understand for the lulz, but around 30 there will still be some semi-actives/late start players to pick from in this draft.

Again, by all means select him...It's just a waste, its not like we have to have him right away. We can wait 2 or 3 seasons/drafts before it got to the point where we really have to figure a way to get him.

Thank god Storm picked a goalie , or this would be totally different Tongue

Oh and all the shit I say is just hypothetical, I haven't talked to Storm or anybody really about this at all.

Maybe storm is secretly planning on leaving and playing for whoever picks him

classic Storm.

if NEW wouldn't trade a 2nd for keep Storm as their Co-GM, then thats on them.
he might be fine with sitting out, but he wouldn't be allowed to stay in the NEW LR and technically wouldn't be allowed to be NEW's Co-GM.

i think PB knows he would be worth a 2nd tho…just like every other Co-GM in history (minus Joester)

Ah, didn't know there was an actual rule that you have to be on your team to GM. Can you provide a link or is it in like the HO or something? I can see it being a rule, I just can't find any instance of the actual rule. And people stay in LR's all the time that are no longer on the team, so that shouldn't be an issue.

(BTW, I am Honestly asking not trying to sound rude)

Also of note on this, there is a rule that to be sent down you must have a contract with the SHL team that owns your rights. So he won't be able to play next season AT ALL unless he signs.

I also find it interesting people are saying NE needs a 2nd to get him back. Since he isn't automatic there, its possible he goes early 2nd. He wouldn't be a bad pick there. And I know NE will argue he would be, but honestly if he's active and 3 seasons to hit UFA, he'd have to refuse a contract for like 2 or 3 months to go to the draft for them. He seems like too nice of a guy to just refuse over and over.

- .bojo - 05-29-2015

He's. Cogm though. Isn't he safe as long as it's in the second round? Maybe I'm misremembering it.

If you draft Storm and you're not NE

He had to be Co-GM for 3 consecutive seasons in order to be able to be traded for a 2nd rounder. Otherwise, he can be picked by any team at any time. He had one season, so he's not safe anywhere. Its more like the MIN and Banananov situation where they were told take her with your first pick or risk losing her. And NE knows that, luckily. The only thing I see as a main misconception is the idea he can play in juniors and go to the next draft. That's wrong, he can go to the next draft BUT he has to go an entire season without playing and without GMing and he'd basically be spending an inactive season.

Edit: And I'm pretty sure that season counts against regression, so it sets you back.

I just caught up witht his whole issue, and honestly, if it is going to ruin the enjoyment of the site for a certain member (Storm), why put him through so many hurdles to reach what he wants to do, and be the co-GM of New England? If another team snatches him on spite, you are creating a precedent for this to occur in the future with a different member, and causing that person a great annoyance too.

Just my two cents on the issue.
