S51 Four Star Cup Finals Game 1: KEL @ ANC

Hello Everyone and welcome to the Sullivan Center in Anchorage, Alaska. Tonight we have the Anchorage Armada hosting the Kelowna Knights in game one of the S51 Four Star Cup.

The atmosphere is absolutely electric here in the Sullivan Center as the Armada are coming off a great season and are playing in the 4 Star Cup for the first time since their move to Anchorage in S42. These fans are excited to see some 4 Star Cup action!

Anchorage is coiming of a season where they finished 2nd in the league with a 28-16-6 (62 points) record and they come into this game after beating Anaheim in seven games and the Vancouver Whalers in six.

On the other end of the ice, the Kelowna Knights finished this season 24-23-3 (51 points) which was good for 5th place in the SMJHL. They come into tonight after finishing Lethbridge in six games and St. Louis in 7.

This crowd is just deafening here tonight.

In skates the referee with the puck to get us started… And it looks like Shepard is a little too excited and he's going to get ejected from the face-off. Eriksson will take his place and he wins the draw back to Shepard.

Shepard skates around a defender and into the Anchorage zone.

Kelowna looking strong to open up this game. Kaspertommevisnapuu over to Vessot who puts a quick shot right in the chest of Venables Who is able to cover it up and we'll have a faceoff.

Virtanen wins the draw at in the Anchorage zone as we've had a good back and forth here to open the first period.

Both teams are feeling each other out.

Kaspertommevisnapuu to Vessot and he sends it back to Kaspertommevisnapuu.

Playing catch now, back over to Vessot along the boards, Vessot tries to send it back to his blue line but it's intercepted by Joe Kerr.

Kerr sends the pass up to the neutral zone to Danny White who dumps it into the Kelowna Knight's zone.

Loose puck picked up by Capp Hatter who is knocked back off the puck by White.

Cyril Vyskoc retrieves the loose puck but it looks like we're going to get the game's first power play here. Looks like the call is a 2 minute minor on Adam Scianna for holding.

Josef Novotny wins the face-off for the Knights, always a good start to a kill, pass up to Eriksson who will dump it into the Anchorage zone.

Venables plays the puck along the boards up to Mitchell van der Heijden who sends it up to Bischoff in the neutral zone.

Plenty of time and space for Bischoff as he'll skate it into the offensive zone.

The Armada win the neutral zone draw. Daniel Bischoff has the puck and carries it into the Kelowna zone.

Sent over to Berry Blue on the near circle. He sends the puck on to van der Heijden who shoots!

Blocked in front by Zhernov and the free puck is picked up by Berry Blue but we have a whistle to stop play.

It looks like it's going to be ANOTHER minor penalty on Kelowna. This time Zhernov gets called for hooking.

The Armada, who scored on the power play one minute ago are going to have another chance here.

Shepard wins the puck back to Scianna in the Knights zone.

Scianna skates the puck into the neutral zone and dumps it in to the Armada zone.

Venables plays the puck behind his one net. Pass up to Wang.

Wang to Kerr. Kerr to Wang.

Wang with speed into the Knights zone. He defers back to Kerr who passes it along to Primeau.

Primeau holds for a second and moves the puck up to Petrikov. The Armada Power play having little trouble moving the puck on these first two chances.

Pass up to Wang who sends it right back. Petrikov with the shot!

1-0 Armada. Five minutes into the first period of play.

Faceoff at in the Armada defensive zone won by Ryan Shepard back to Eriksson. Maybe too much on that pass because Eriksson can't reel it in. Puck retrieved by Augustus Wang to end the Kelowna threat.
