Carolina's gotten a couple routine shots on Spector for this powerplay, but nothing significant. Gold's moving the puck for Carolina now after a clearance by the PK unit, over to Rykov, now heres Lane with a chance! Spector makes a kick save! Loose puck in front!

But Derek Bohne Jr. comes to the rescue with a desperate clearance and saves Colorado from going down four!

That'll do it for the Carolina powerplay, which hasn't gotten into top gear yet despite the team being dominant at even strength tonight......

Lundqvist picks up the puck and has a 2-on-1 with Archer!........but Kaspars Claude blocks the final pass and moves the puck up-ice. Heres Jaguar Johnson......and we're gonna have a whistle here as Anthony Archer gets called for holding back Kaspars Claude! From bad to worse for Colorado, but maybe their PK can bail them out again.........

Tedisko wins another key faceoff for Carolina, over to Wachter, now Bobby Lane with the shot but the tiring Spector makes another important save to keep the score down! That'll do it for the Archer penalty and the period, as Colorado head to their locker room for the 3rd down 3-0 here in Game 1.........

Tedisko's just getting pinballed by Derek Bohne for some reason, two big hits within a few seconds. Tedisko gets a pass from Lane though and tries to build up a head of steam.......

Kuster gets the puck back from Spector after a dump-in from Carolina, but turns the puck over and here comes Carolina again! Ruschkoff finds Ricky Bobby, who shoots it but misses the net. But the puck goes right back to him!

At this point we're probably running short on time and patience due to the site crash and late night, so lets race through some of these highlights.......

Gold wins a draw against Coitus-Wagg and gets the puck to Ricky Bobby whos looking for the hat trick, but Heat Siecker gives him a nice combover with the business end of the lumber and that'll be 2 for high-sticking.....

PENALTY:
Heat Siecker (COL) for High-Sticking (Minor) at 4:03

Carolina only gets off one meaningful shot on the man advantage courtesy of Kaspars Claude, which a no-doubt frustrated Spector saves.

Spector gets tested with two tough shots at the six-minute mark, one from a deflection by Jaguar Johnson, and one from Michael Fitted, but stops both to keep it only at 4-0.

Kuster gets a shot off after Valentine-Okoli hits the endboards, but McMahon coolly makes the save and covers up. Last-Name comes in with a chance, McMahon makes the save, and the rebound goes Carolina's way and out of danger. Carolina is still getting the best of the play here though, despite presumably taking their foot off the gas.

Claude pounces on the umpteenth turnover in the game and gets a 2-on-1 going with Bobby Lane, but Lane hits the post! A minute later Johnson also gets a bad Colorado pass on his tape, the puck cycles around to Wachter, and he too hits the post! Carolina can't quite pad the lead further, but Colorado doesn't get much pressure on McMahon's end.

Conrad Farell gets called for Roughing.....

PENALTY:
Conrad Farell (CAR) for Roughing (Minor) at 14:31

..........but Colorado only gets off a missed shot on their first and only powerplay of the game.

Finally towards the end though, Colorado shows signs of life, necessitating a normal PBP........

Colorado trying to salvage some dignity here as we approach the final minute of the game. Rykov retrieves the puck from his netminder, but Kuster steals a long pass and Colorado get the odd-man rush going! good puck movement here between the defensemen, then Atriedes, heres Urawa trailing the play!

Kick save by McMahon! Urawa comes in and gets the rebound, but McMahon's in the right position and stops it easily with his chest!

First line comes out for Colorado with time running out. Kane wins the draw, and Colorado moves the puck well, playing like they're on the powerplay here against Carolina in the dying minutes. Crudelli bangs a couple slapshots off the endboards, but Colorado keeps control of the puck. Kane shoots, but it goes wide into the corner. EVO digs it out, circles out front, and fires a wrister!

That'll do it for tonight's programming, Sorry this PBP wasn't great, but I didn't have a lot to work with and I underestimated the time these things took to write up and i had work til 4:30 PM when i wanted to start this at 8 and I thought I'd get it Friday and a dozen more excuses please don't take away my 8 TPE I tried honest.
