In the 9th minute of the second period, Fiddler wins a face-off in his own zone. The puck goes to Tedisko who passes the puck back to Fiddler who hands it back to Tedisko as they both go speeding through the neutral zone. Tedisko finds Daly who has time. Daly finds an opening to Fiddler who’s right in front of the net!

GOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAALLLL!! PUT THAT BABY TO BED WITHOUT A DIAPER! What an effort the youngster Tom Fiddler! He won the face-off and started the entire play at the other end of the ice and with some nifty play from Tedisko, Fiddler is finally able to put Montreal on the scoreboard! The crowd is absolutely loving this!

11 minutes into the second period Mike Hunt covers up the puck after a difficult save from a shot by Barbashev II and we have a face-off in the Montreal zone. Bobby wins it against Malichov but Malichov flattens Bobby in return! Moments later Malichov finds himself alone with the puck on a breakaway! The speeds through the neutral zone and into the offensive zone! He’s all alone! He shoots!

GOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAALLLL!! What goal by the veteran Vadim Malichov! In all alone he puts it top shelf on the backhand from point blank range. Kelowna regain their three goal lead!

15:51 Gaspard Boone is hit by Vadium Malichov in what might be the hit of the game! An audible crack is heard throughout the entire stadium as Boone is sandwiched between Malichov and the boards. A collective gasp goes through the crowd but Boone gets up without delay and keeps on skating.

The rest of the period is rather uneventful as Kelowna start playing a more defensive game and Montreal look like they are bleeding out on the ice.

- Start of the Third Period -

Early in the third period Devitt is hit hard by Pokrywka who’s is called for cross-checking and spends two minutes in the penalty box. An undisciplined frustration penalty. Montreal look to have given up on winning completely. The powerplay doesn’t amount to anything. Kelowna also seem to be slowing their game down, perhaps unwilling to risk injury to increase their lead further.

In another uncharacteristically undisciplined outburst, Ruschkoff takes a two minute minor for hooking. Morale on the Montreal bench is low with almost all players eyes fixated on the floor beneath their feet. This is certainly not the way they wrote it up. Militia fans slowly start to leave the game, clearly upset with the on-ice display.

Late in the third period Lane breaks out and skates into the offensive zone. He passes it to Schweinsteiger. Schweinsteiger tries to pass it back to Lane but the pass is intercepted by Svensen. Svensen tries to move past Schweinsteiger but loses the puck. Schweinsteiger passes the puck to Boone! He’s got room! HE SHOOTS!

HIGHWAY ROBBERY by Alexander Thorstrom! In a Hasek-esque move he throws is legs up and in a windmill motion he manages to make a pad save to keep the score at 4-1. He hasn’t been overly busy tonight but Thorstrom has really come up big when it matters.

The third period is a pale shadow compared to the first and second. Both teams seem content with just letting the clock run out and other than a few undisciplined penalties it is completely uneventful. By the time the final whistle blows the stands are already two thirds empty as the fans started leaving when it became clear both teams were going to play safe and live to fight another day.
