Welcome one and all to another exciting game of hockey coming to your ear-holes live from the beautiful city of Montreal, Quebec. You know what they say, there’s no Canada like French Canada!

Tonight we have a real treat for you all out there, Game 4 of the S49 SMJHL finals between the Montreal Militia and the Kelowna Knights. So far the series has been an absolute blast. We’ve had highlight reel goals, we’ve had some of the best saves of the season, we’ve had bone crunching hits and every single game has been a real nail biter. Montreal lead the series 3-0 and are hoping to produce a sweep here in front of the hometown crowd. Will Montreal ride the momentum from the previous games or can Kelowna pull themselves back into the series? Everything is pointing to tonight’s game being an absolute barn burner so go grab some popcorn, fill your coolers with the alcoholic beverage of your choice and prepare your backsides because we will be going live in about 60 minutes from now!

With only 5 minutes remaining til puck drop it’s now finally time for the national anthems. We will begin ofcourse with the Quebec anthem followed by a rendition of the Canadian anthem in English. So without further ado we ask you to please rise.

Dropping the puck tonight is the famous Austrian comedian Arnold Braunschweiger, here to promote his latest movie ‘Pass auf, ich Spritze!’ a romantic comedy that centers around Braunschweiger’s character, Bruno Junker, and his attempt to balance his out of control love-life with his dream job as a factory floor worker in a needle factory. It’s sure to be the big blockbuster of the fall, in cinemas September 28.

-START OF FIRST PERIOD-

Kelowna win the starting face-off that sees Novotny come out victorious against Boone. Some nifty passing play ensues from the Knight’s which looks like it may pay-off with a breakaway but the stretch pass from Puhcheese is intercepted by some great foresight by O’Dowd. O’Dowd then tries to move the puck up the ice but is intercepted by Novotny who takes the puck into the offensive zone.

Novotny passes to Puhcheese, calms down the pay by passing it back to Horvat. Horvat finds Castillo Gutierrez. She has an opening. She takes aim and fires a deadly wrister towards goal….!

I can’t believe it! Mike Hunt makes an incredible glove save on a top corner snipe by Castillo Gutierrez and holds onto the puck. The crowd are on their feet! We’re less than a minute into the game and the energy in this stadium is palpable! I think we’re in for one hell of a game here folks!

Just over a minute into the first period, after a lot of back and forth which saw shot after shot blocked for both sides, the puck is dumped into the Montreal Militia zone by Shepard. The Knights second line storm onto the ice on some fresh legs. The puck is picked up by Ruschkoff. He tries to pass it up the ice but the puck is intercepted by Kaspertommevisnapuu in the neutral zone. He passes it to Devitt who takes the puck into the Montreal Militia zone. He passes it the Scherbak to whos storming down the other side of the rink. He’s got an open net! HE SHOOTS!

Schweinsteiger, in an amazingly athletic move, throws his body out in the line of fire and manages to just block the shot, redirecting it into the corner. The puck is then picked back up by Devitt. Devitt passes it to Kaspertommevisnapuu who takes a shot through traffic!

GOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAALLLL! The Knights open the scoring with a beautiful wrister from Kaspertommevisnapuu through heavy traffic. Hunt isn’t able to track the puck and the puck slips in at about knee height on the blocker side. Not the prettiest goal in the world but I’m sure the Knights don’t mind one bit!

The game is fairly uneventful for the next 10 minutes or so with neither team getting particularly good chances on goal. The game begins to slow down and the hometown crowd begins to slowly lose the fantastic energy that was on display earlier in the game. These two teams are incredibly tightly matched.

Perhaps showing some frustration at the lack of offensive chances, Rykov takes an avoidable double minor for Slashing after getting outskated in the neutral zone by Scherbak. Rykov heads to the bench shaking his head, visibly frustrated with himself. The special teams take to the ice for the first time in this game.
