Some fun facts for those Sweden fans waiting for the PBP:

1. This is Sweden's first appearance in the Gold Medal game since S35, where they lost to Norway.

2. This is Sweden's sixth Gold Medal game appearance; the team is currently 2-3 in gold medal games.

3. Sweden made it to the Gold Medal game in their second year of existence; losing to Canada and taking silver.

4. While no Sweden players will enter the Triple Gold club with a win tonight, Kata Vilde and Tyler Tougard will be a Challenge Cup away from the club should Sweden win Gold tonight.

5. Sweden has never upset a higher-ranked team in a Gold Medal Game.

6. Sweden was ranked 10th in the IIHF going into the S48 tournament. Should they win Gold tonight, they will be the first team since S26 to win the gold medal while ranked 10th OA or worse. (Russia - 10th OA - S26).

7. Should Sweden lose tonight's game, they will become the sixth team in IIHF history to win silver while ranked 10th OA or worse.

The puck is dropped and Visser takes it to give Team USA first possession of the game. It’s short lived as Forsberg picks off a cross ice pass to Cuddles. He attempts to regain it but he catches Forsberg’s arm instead.. The referees look hesitant..

And the arm goes up! That’s an extremely early penalty against Cuddles just 15 seconds into the game.

Finally Lockhart picks out a pass at the point and slaps it on goal towards Cain for the first shot of the game???

Garret wins the ensuing draw and USA control the puck.

They can’t get it out of the zone and Sweden regain it. Dani Forsberg finds himself with a wide open net and aims for the gaping hole..
