1st Period

Calgary starts the game off with the faceoff win from Joe Kurczewski, and they push forward into the New England zone. Joe brings the puck in himself and gets a shot off, but the puck goes wide and leads to a battle along the boards. The Dragons come out with it. Mikke Luakkanen loses his footing sliding across, and Mikko Linna gets a shot from the top of the circle... Kurczewski gets his stick on it to try and deflect it over a sprawling Laukkanen...

A minute later the Wolfpack's rookie Czerkawski is laid out by Pedersen as he tries exiting the zone. Calgary keeps the pressure on along the boards, but New England is doing a good job keeping them to the outside. Linna digs another puck out from a scrum and fires a shot on goal. It's kicked aside by Laukkanen, but recovered by Calgary. The Dragons work the puck around to Mike Izzy for a shot..

The shot sails wide of the net. New England continues to try and force the puck out of their zone, but the Dragons continue pushing back. Piotr Czerkawski comes out with the puck again, and he's headed out of the zone. Kaiser comes across with a big hit, but Czerkawski manages to slip free, leading to Kaiser reaching out with his stick and taking a hooking penalty.

New England quickly put Richard Hocolate to work in goal, firing shot after shot. About a minute into the powerplay, Kurczewski wins a defensive zone faceoff following a big save from Hocolate. The Dragons can't clear the zone though, and the Wolfpack begin to get their powerplay set up. Toivo Kosonen is given two opportunities from the point, but he fires both wide. Dieter Dominique gets the next opportunity for NEW, but Hocolate covers that one up. Kaiser wins the ensuing faceoff to keep the pressure on. Mia Landvik gets a shot off, but Hocolate kicks it away. Cameron Dubois gets the rebound for a shot on goal, but Hocolate makes another big save. The powerplay winds down from here, NEW keeps pressure, but doesn't accomplish much. As the penalty expires, and Spitfire shoots a puck wide of the net, Adam Kaiser leaps out of the box to a breakaway pass from Kurczewski...

Several minutes later following an icing call on Calgary, Hunter Jones wins a faceoff against Oisin Fletcher, but Mia Landvik steps in to knock them off the puck. The Wolfpack pressure the puck down into the corner, and begin trying to cycle the puck. Joe Kurczewski catches Patrikov Bure by surprise with a big hit, and he takes control of the puck. Esa Anrikkanen joins him on the rush up the ice, and watches on as Joe wires the shot wide of the net. Esa grabs the loose puck and fires it back toward the net, but also sends his shot wide. Mikke Laukkanen is down and out at this point and Joe Kurczewski takes the puck behind the net for a wrap around...

Calgary gets right back on it with a faceoff win from Alex Mack. The Dragons enter the New England zone with ease, and move the puck around before getting it to Alex Mack for a shot. Shooter McGavin tips the shot, and that sends it wide. NEW jumps on the puck, and after a few seconds of digging in the corner, Makinen ices the puck. Off the draw Mike Izzy works a give and go to get himself open for a shot...
