KEL vs COL - Game 5 COL leads 3-1

But Laukkanen is there, and it goes straight into the logo in the jersey, no rebound.

And that's the last shot on net the Mammoths have for over ten minutes, until Nazzareno takes a shot which misses the net, but gives Colorado a chance to set up and get something going, and Brando, who's been one of Colorado's best players tonight, has one of his shots blocked by Frederic, but refuses to give up, collecting his own rebound and taking a shot from a sharp angle...

But Laukkanen is strong against his post, and he fumbles, but manages to cover up with Brandon crashing the net.

Faceoff in Knights territory is won by Conway, who tries to get it back to Sludge at the point, but it's intercepted by Frederic, who knocks it free to a streaking Linna in the neutral zone as he charges into Colorado's territory and drops it to Tupper, who shows incredible patience in waiting for the trailing forward, Talo, who unleashes an absolute blast at Andrews. Linna deflects it from about three feet out and it takes a crazy bounce...

Just past the far post, deflecting to the corner, where Linna goes hard after it, and comes up with the puck, circling round for another quick shot, this time blocked by Sludge.

Not to be deterred, Linna collects his own rebound and has a third attempt...

And Andrews can't close the five hole fast enough! Kelowna has taken the lead! What a goal from the captain of the Knights!

Goal Goal Goal

Code:
3. Kelowna Knights , Mikko Linna 2 (Mikael Talo, Darian Tupper) at 14:42

Into the final minute of the period, Pecker intercepts a pass in the neutral zone and carries into the Knights end, passing it off to Nazzareno, who gives it a little touch straight back to Pecker, and he sends a beautiful saucer pass across the rink to the trailing Brando, who unloads a one timer straight at Laukkanen...

Who gloves it easily, and is happy to hold for a face off.

The Knights take possession on the draw, and carry the puck out of their zone easily just as the buzzer sounds, and they take a one goal lead into the second intermission.

Mammoths 1
Knights 2

Code:
Goals for this period are 1 for Kelowna Knights vs 0 for Colorado Mammoths.
Shots for this period are 8 for Kelowna Knights vs 4 for Colorado Mammoths.

PERIOD THREE

Early in the second period, Kelowna takes another penalty, this time for high sticking, and it's Frederic to the box.

Code:
2:30 of 3rd period - Minor Penalty to Bernard Frederic for High sticking.

Can the Knights keep up their spectacular penalty kill from the earlier periods, or will the Mammoths be able to draw blood, and tie the game at two?

Dominique wins yet another crucial face off in his own zone, and the Mammoths yet again fail to get a shot on goal in that power play.

Heading into the final fifteen minutes of the game and it's all Knights, peppering Andrews with shots, and getting hefty rebounds in return. Almost eight minutes into the period and Tupper takes a floating shot through a crowd. Andrews gets his toe on it, but sends the puck straight into the high slot, and...

Dominique is unable to settle the rebound, it bouncing over his stick and he has to lunge to keep the puck in. He fakes a shot, sending a hard pass off the backboards, but it bounces all the way back to him and he winds up for a one timer...

Straight into Andrews' glove, where he'll hold for a whistle and a breather.

Just over halfway through the period, Kelowna takes their third penalty as Lever goes to the box for roughing, and their penalty kill units take the ice, hoping to keep that 100% kill.

Code:
10:58 of 3rd period - Minor Penalty to Denis Lever for Roughing.

Dominique wins yet another face off for his team -- that guy is a monster for them when he needs to be, talk about clutch -- and the Mammoths yet again fail to get set up in their own zone, and Pecker even manages to ice the puck, something you should never do when you're the ones with the man advantage.

With a minute left on the man advantage, Colorado finally gets their first power play shot through to Laukkanen, who stops it easily, no rebound.

Those few seconds of puck possession seem to have given Colorado new energy, and they get another high quality shot off at Laukkanen just before the end of the penalty...

Which he juggles but covers, and the Knights win the ensuring faceoff to kill the remaining few seconds, and Lever steps free. The Knights are now three for three on the kill tonight.

With less than three minutes left in the period, and the Mammoths still down by a goal, Ramsey takes a hooking penalty, giving Colorado a chance to pull even, late in the game.

Conway wins the face off, but there's nothing doing for the Mammoths until the penalty is about to expire, and they get the puck back into the Knights zone and pull Andrews for the extra attacker.

As we enter the final minute, Conway winds up and takes a shot from the point...

But it just skips wide, and the Knights manages to gain possession long enough to force the Mammoths to ice the puck, and they end up having to put Andrews back in.

Dominique wins one final face off, and the clock winds down to zero, giving the Knights a 2-1 victory over the Colorado Mammoths, and sending this series back home for a game six!
