Welcome to Game One of the Four Star Cup Finals! This series is featuring a ton of great players, and especially the two great teams. The Montreal Impact have been dominant all season long, and many assumed they would be here in the Finals today. Led by Captain Raven Silverwing and star goaltender Matt Lewis-Flood, the Impact are primed to take it all home.

And then there's the Colorado Mammoth, considered the underdogs of this series. They were good in the regular season as well, but didn't achieve the same level of domination as the Impact did. Led by Kristoffer Ruud on the blue line, and the Pellegrino's at forward, they should continue to impress even after this playoff series, win or not.

The puck drops at 3:15 Central Standard Time.</div>

Here we are at center ice. The two centerman for the top teams in the league are lined up now. It's Hannu Hamalainen vs. Tony Pellegrino, and it really shows how this game could go either way. The centerman line-up, and the puck goes down! Hamalainen wins the face-off, and the game is on!

Hamalainen passes the puck to Dane Rowe, who makes his way into the Mammoths zone. He attempts to pass back to Hamalainen, but his pass is intercepted by Potato Chips and Colorado is on the attack. Chips sends it too Pellegrino, who moves the puck Shane Gagner and into the neutral end. He keeps skating, and breaks straight into Impact territory. They set up a passing triangle, and the play is on.

Pellegrino to Mikita, to Ruud, to Pellegrino, to Chips, to Mikita, to Ruud, and to Sim Browski. Broski moves down behind the net and attempts a shot, but Lewis-Flood covers it without a rebound.

Skipping ahead to 2:23 into the 1st, and Hammu Hamalainen has just won the face-off. He skates forward, but is quickly slammed into the boards by Alphonse Oduya. He staggers but keeps going, and the first hit is followed up by Sludge with a monstrous blast. The ref's got his number, and the play is quickly stopped.

Code:
2:33 of 1st period - Double Minor Penalty to Sludge for Roughing.

Onto 7:07 into the first, and the Mammoth are still down a man. There's a scuffle along the boards, but Dickie Pecker of the Mammoth breaks away with it. He attempts a pass, but a stick catches in his elbow and pulls it back. Dominic Weber looks down in shame as he skates to the penalty box.

Code:
7:07 of 1st period - Minor Penalty to Dominic Weber for Hooking.

Now we're at 13:13, still in the 1st. The score is tied at zero, and I think we're looking at a close game. The Impact are on the attack, and they've been getting a ton of shots. Finally Chips grabs the puck and attempts to break out, but once again Dominic Weber gets in the way. He attempts a hit, but his stick comes and smashes into Chips face. Back to the box he goes.

Code:
13:13 of 1st period - Minor Penalty to Dominic Weber for High sticking.

Hannu Hamalainen wins the face-off versus Dickie Pecker in Montreal Impact zone around the 15 minute mark of the 1st. Dvoark manages to grab the puck though and begins an attempt at a shot. His attempt is shot down by a massive hit from Shane Gagner, who picks up the puck and moves it too Rowe. Rowe takes a shot at net, but it's deflected by Sludge. Wesley Wells picks up the puck and fires it.....

Goal The Impact take a 1-0 lead Goal

Here we are right after that goal, and Johnny Watson wins the face-off versus Charlie Conway. The puck goes straight to Wells who moves into the Mammoth end. He lines up and fires a hard shot at the net, but Sludge gets in the way. The puck bounces off his knee right back to Wells.

He shoots again, and the puck is up.....

Goal 2-0 Impact! Goal

What a goal!

Here we are at the end of the 1st now. Riley McDonald wins the face-off versus Potato Chips in Colorado's zone. The puck is passed around in the neutral end before it's picked off by Chips. He moves into the Impact zone and fires a hard one, and his shot slips past Flood!

Oooooh...... but it hits the post! And what's this? Apparently the ref had a behind the play penalty on Sesugh Uhaa here!

Code:
18:57 of 1st period - Minor Penalty to Sesugh Uhaa for Tripping.
