Game 3 @ The CN Centre, Prince George, BC

Synopsis:
After two games of play, the series is pretty much starting right back over again with both Kelowna and Prince George having picked up a win in the first two games, neither teams have looked able to truly capitalize on the mistakes of the other team, but it's clear that the first game away from Kelowna might tip the balance into the favour of Prince George who will look to impress in front of their home fans.

Whilst the insane scoring ability of Kelowna gave them the home win in the first game of the opening round, the defensive depth of the Firebirds made all the difference in game two where they managed to weather the storm and three times take advantage of the Knights on the powerplay.

It's obvious that this playoffs series might end up going the distance, but if Prince George can make it count on home ice in the next two games they can make it really hard on their British Columbia rivals

Players to Watch
Kelowna Knights: Kristján Vilhjalmsson
The Icelandic playmaker has been very quiet in the first two games, getting no points and at times truly being bullied by the defensive players of Prince George. But despite that drought he's been more than effective in the faceoff circle. It might be a matter of time before the Icelandic player breaks through and finds playoff form...

Prince George Firebirds: Eoin MacGregor
There hasn't been a defender on the PGF that has taken more shots for the team than Eoin MacGregor, who is currently at seven hits and an amazing seven shot-blocks to add to that total. And he's even chipped in with two assists in the lost game 1... The Irishman has at times found himself in foul trouble, but whenever he's on the ice he's definitely an x-factor for the already dominating PGF defense.

FIRST PERIOD

0:01 - The referee drops the puck and game three is officially underway, there's a short fight for possession but Viljalmsson takes control and drops it down to Maria Maximova who moves it into the PGF defensive zone for the first offense of the game. She passes it to Randy, who passes it to Kristján, who passes it back to Randy... Who Shoots!

0:14 - But Cynthia Taylor takes one for the good of the team! Taylor gets right back up though and with a pass from Shea Robinson the play goes the other way. She slides it to Leon Webb who dumps it behind the net where Pentecost gets it but is laid out by an incoming Leon Webb.

0:33 - Webb carefully holds the puck behind the net before playing it to the open Luke Fleming who hits it a hard one timer!

But Bjornsson is right there to snatch it out of mid-air and snuff out the danger!

2:01 - With a short lull in the action the players take a minute of rest from the frantic first minute of play. But it gets right back there when Vanaja intercepts a bad pass from Svensson and plays it forward to Chamas who immediately directs a laserbeam at Niall Brannan who slaps it with full power!

But Cayden Lewis jumped in front of that one and is clutching his ass in pain, what a consumnate team player for the Prince George Firebirds!

2:15 - But the danger hasn't ended there, the puck was dumped but a new line was right there to retrieve it and march right back into the PGF's defensive zone... This time Hugh Johnson has a pop!

Showing superhuman agility Kyle Prince reacts to the tough angle and snatches it out of the air, showing that whatever Bjornsson can, he can do with much more flair... He quickly covers it up, stopping play dead...

2:16 - The puck is dropped by the referee and Viljhalmsson expertly beats Fleming on the draw, playing it to Scuderi who proceeds to play it to Randleman who goes for a shot!

6:06 - We return to the action in the sixth minute of the first quarter, as the puck is dumped into the Knights defensive zone by Luke Fleming. Pentecost is the one to pick it back up, who passes it to Maria Maximova who is ready to start a new offensive break... But hold on, there's a whistle!

Minor Penalty to Leon Webb for Interference.

Webb tried a little too much on defense and is hit with the interference call, which will send the first man into the sin-bin to rethink his life choices for two minutes.

7:44 - After the majority of the first minute is spent with icing calls, the Firebirds are looking comfortable in killing off this Powerplay without much problems... But Matt Veenstra picks it up in the neutral zone who passes it to Lundberg, to Koroviev, back to Lundberg, now to Ogorodnikov who shoots!

But Prince is there with the pads to stop it, but he doesn't get all of it and Ogorodnikov rushes in trying to score off the rebound!

But this time the puck is smothered by Prince and the danger is gone!

8:00 - The Firebirds are weathering quite the storm here with only four men, but they're close to breaking the powerplay and getting back to even terms... Cynthia Taylor dumps it and Maximova is there to pick it up, who plays it down the ice to Pentecost who takes it into the offensive zone, he passes it back and Maria Shoots!

... But Cynthia Taylor was there to throw her body in front of that shot and once more save her team from getting scored upon. But wait, there's no defender near the puck and like a shark Maria Maximova grabs it and goes for a second shot!
