Here we go! Finally time for the opening faceoff!

Simons wins the faceoff and Hamilton moves the puck into the offensive zone. The puck comes to Muerto who is nailed into the boards by Stinson and loses the puck. Stinson isn't done and continues to rough up Muerto until the refs blow the whistle and call Stinson for interference.

Code:
Barney Stinson (MAN) for Interference (Minor) at 0:27,

That is not at all how Manhattan wanted to start this game in front of their fans.

Manhattan does a great job of killing the penalty, with one shot and one save over the 2 minutes. However, it's back to 5-on-5 hockey and Manhattan still can't clear the puck. Perron has it at the point and passes to Simons.

Simons shoots... wait no! He fakes the shot and moves it to Vlaters who one-times it towards the net...

James didn't have a chance at that one, as he absolutely sold on Simons fake and Hamilton takes an early 1-0 lead.

Hamilton doesn't stop there and continues to pressure early in this one. Again, they are set up in the offensive zone and now Clitsome has possession. He takes a shot... it's deflected by Webb

But that shot goes wide and Manhattan has a chance to collect themselves.

As the period goes on this game becomes more and more physical with hits flying from both sides.

Finally, Manhattan is able to settle it down and get started into the offensive zone with a long dump ahead.

It comes to Goody who steps into the high post and shoots...

blocked by Caboose! Goody gets the loose puck and shoots....

saved but the puck is loose out in front of Tanner, and Goody grabs the rebound again! Goody takes a third shot and...

PING!!! This one hits the post and that opportunity for Manhattan to tie the game at 1 trickles away.

As Hamilton is attempting to clear it, Simeon Mars III is called for a holding stick minor and Manhattan is headed to their first powerplay of the game.

After Creller wins a faceoff, Merica takes a shot towards Tanner. But he swiftly gloves it and chooses to bring a halt to play.

Hamilton clears the puck but Razin gets it back up ice. He enters the offensive zone and passes to Merica who chooses to slide it to Creller. Creller chooses to shoot a quick wrister towards Tanner...
