Ciarelli throws the puck to Clayton who holds it behind the net while waiting for both teams to make changes. He’ll move it up to Winchester and go off for a change himself. Winchester skates it up center into the Platoon zone. Drops it back to Makinen.

But that one goes wide and rolls back out to neutral ice. Winchester collects it and opts to dump it and both teams go off for a change. Schmidt collects the puck now and moves it up ice to Gibbs. Gibbs skates it up ice into the neutral zone.

Gibbs skating with it. . .and it looks like Maximova and Clayton are having words right by the benches as they step onto the ice. . .AND CLAYTON JUST PUNCHED MAXIMOVA RIGHT IN THE FACE. The refs arm immediately went up on that one, and it looks like West Kendall is about to get the first powerplay of the game.

Pierre, you were right by them on that one, any idea what caused that?

Well, Doc, Maria and Jasper have gotten to know each other quite well since they both declared for the SMJHL Draft in S24 and ended up playing on the Lions together under the direction of the Buffalo Stampede goaltender Kyle Prince who, at the time, was playing for the Prince George Firebirds in the SMJHL. While they haven’t played together in any organized play since then, with Maria going to the Kelowna Knights while Jasper went to Detroit and later Montreal, where the two of them would meet in the Four Star Cup finals in S25 when Maximova and the Knights were able to pull off a victory while playing for JRT of the Edmonton Blizzard, it’s safe to say their rivalry hasn’t died and I’m honestly surprised this is the first time something like this happened.
