This one was actually states side, it was in Washington DC. I also saw Barcelona  get blown out by Chivas a week after this game.

Padua, Italy
The atmosphere in Padua was incredible as Padua and AS Bari went head to head in the first round of Coppa Nazionale fixutres. Despite all the hype the game started off as a rather boring one with the only real action in the first 90 minutes being a yellow card to Diego Polenta and a Cristoph Klose volley that was just barely kept out by a Padua defender in the 89th minute. Not much more happened in extra time as the two clubs remained goaless throughout 120 minutes. It was all worth it though as the two clubs went to penalties and it made for one of the most nail biting finishers ever. Padua kicked off the penalties with a goal by Ze Eduardo. Bari striker Brandon Donini tied it up on the next kick. After 2 goals by Padua and 2 Bari goals by Cristoph Klose and Bernard, Eugenio Lamanna made a huge stop in the 4th round giving Bari an edge. Venezuelan Fernando Garcia had to bury it to send Bari off to the next round and he didn't dissapoint with a classic chip right over the diving Anania to seal the game for Bari.

Brandon Donini was the man of the match as Bari sailed to a convincing 4-1 victory over Sassuolo in the season opener. Donini scored a long shot beauty in the 4th minute and a penalty in the 30th leaving Bari up 2-0 at the half. Sassuolo cut the lead to one early in the 2nd half but Fernando Garcia got the goal back for Bari just a minute before being subbed off for Raheem Sterling. Brazilian youngster Bernard capped off the goals show with a perfectly executed header off a Damian Littleton cross in the 69th minute. Bari play Livorno at home in two days.

Bari was not as successful in their 2nd game of the season. Bernard put them up in the 1st minute in what was looking to be another Bari blowout however Livorno's Luci drew the two teams level just before the half and Bari was unable to beat Livorno's keeper for the rest of the game despite second half domination. Canadian midfielder Zack Gagnon left the game in the 40th minute with a shoulder injury. Initial medical reports are saying that the CDM has suffered a dislocated shoulder and will be sidelined for 5 weeks. No news yet on how Ferrante plans on replacing the midfielder. Ferrante also sold striker Diego Albadora just days before the transfer deadline. Details to follow:

With the transfer deadline now behind us, The next two weeks will be dedicated to World Cup qualifiers. AS Bari's manager Micheal Ferrante flew down to Poland for the two weeks to watch his only player who made his international team; Centreback Zenon Kowalsky. Rumours circulating the soccer world are that Donini was offered a managerial job by Poland during his visit, more on this to come.

The 19 year old's goal may well be an early candidate for goal of the season. Garcia curved the ball clean into the net off a corner kick, Crotone's keeper never even had a chance as the ball sailed in right under the left side of the crossbar. Brandon Donini was subbed off for Javier Cortez in the 52nd minute.
