The Czechs dump it deep into the Russian end where it is picked up by Evans who is slammed into the boards by Smyth and his pass is intercepted. Clearly tried to get that away to avoid the hit, but that did not save him at all.

That's not very nice @"Blastmeaway"

Covered by the Russian netminder. Real solid game by O'Koivu-Volkova tonight so far. If Russia medals they better buy him as many vodka shots as he wants after this stellar performance so far.

The Russians win the draw and keep the Czechs pinned deep for a minute, no shots are recorded but the Czechs cant seem to get it into the Russian end for a change. Finally Thomason gets the puck in the neutral zone, but he does not see Anazibf coming and gets flattened in open ice. Luckily for him his teammate is able to get the puck deep and he can crawl to the bench.

After an icing call the Czechs have their first line paired up against the young fourth line of the Russians. The Czechs work the puck around and Smyth finds a lane to take a shot that gets deflected by Czerkawski…

Just wide and the Russians are able to get the puck out of their end of the ice and change the line. That was a good matchup for the Czechs and they would have liked to have gotten one there.

The Czechs work it out of their end but their pass is intercepted and the puck makes its way to Kandinsky who gets knocked by McClure, but maintains possession. Kandinsky moves the puck to Ralchankinov who takes a shot! Saved! Rebound!

Saved Partridge! And the Czechs are able to get it out of their end. Partridge looks much better in this period than the last. Already doubling his save total from a period ago.

The Czech first line gains possession of the puck in the Russian end where Smyth picks up the pass from Schieck in the slot and fires one on O’Koivu Volkova, only to have it turned aside. O’Koivu Volkova seems to be frustrating Smyth and the rest of this first line tonight. They will have to do better to get this one tied up.

Both teams work the puck end to end for a bit and then the Russians are able to settle in the Czech end for a few seconds. Ralchankinov sees a line to fire a shot, that’s deflected by Konig and saved by Partridge but only to the stick of another Russian player…

The shooting lane is covered by the Czech defense and the Russians need to regroup. The puck find its way to the stick of Fouquette who’s shot is covered by Partridge. This was the first sign of life from the Russians this game, sure they have two goals, but until this series they didn’t look threatening. If they keep this up I don’t know if Partridge will be able to keep it at 2.

Both teams squabble with the puck for a few minutes, neither really doing much in terms of offense, mostly just having their passes intercepted. Until an interception by Stevenson Jr. who is able to find a passing lane to Czerkawski, who shoots, but sees his shot pushed aside by O’Koivu-Volkova.

Again the puck move back and fourth for a minute before the 4th line from Russia gets some possession in the Czech end. They work the puck Rykov, who shoots… and misses wide, but the puck finds the stick of Petrikov with a good scoring chance on and open net!
