S28 - SHL - TEX vs WPG - Game 5
#16

Your commentary team for today's game is Joe Beninati and Craig Laughlin, and we go to them now. Guys, how excited are you for this one?

"Well I think everyone involved in this game is hugely excited. Both teams here have so much to play for, Texas of course trying to stay in the playoffs after a great regular season and the Jets looking to prove all the doubters and naysayers wrong and pull off a huge upset. I think it's going to be a very physical game from both sides, but coming from that I think a big key to this game will be discipline. Both teams have good powerplay units and I'd imagine both coaches will have given their guys orders not to give away soft penalties and to steer clear of any pointless post whistle shenanigans."

Post-whistle shenanigans are my favorite, cmon Leafs

Diggin' the Pre Game!

So close, so close to puck drop.

We turn our attention now to each team's

Budweiser Impact Players

Budweiser, bringng buds together one goal at a time.

For the Winnipeg Jets we look at their young goaltender Lukas Berger. Berger has been strong all series long after maybe not the best regular season, his one playoff loss coming in OT and putting up three solid wins with good numbers throughout.

It's no secret what the Renegades offense can do so if Winnipeg want to come away with a win here, a lot of the responsibility lies with this man.

Awesome job with the pre game dankoa.

Go Renegades

Custom graphics and everything? Dankoa spoiling us with this quality

For the Texas Renegades we take a closer look at forward Yuri Boyka. Boyka was a part of the big offseason trade between the Renegades and the Los Angeles Panthers and since then he's seamlessly integrated himself into their unit and emerged as one of their top players. 6 points through 4 playoff games is tied for the most on the team, and as their number one centre a big game from him today could be what sets the two teams apart.

With just under twenty minutes to go until things get underway, let's take a minute to look at both team's starting lineups.

Here's how the Texas Renegades will be looking..

Renegades Renegades Renegades Renegades Renegades Renegades Renegades

STERLING KNIGHT - YURI BOYKA - JED LLOREN

VALTERRI BOTTAS - KASPARS TSIZLING

Renegades Renegades Renegades Renegades Renegades Renegades Renegades

What's stood out with the Renegades all season is the depth throughout the lineup. They have three top level lines and an effective checking fourth line which lets them roll all four lines and create problems for the opposition. Their top 4 defensemen are all of very high qualiity also, and as such this is not a team you can ever write off.

And here's how the Jets will be shaping up..

Jets Jets Jets Jets Jets Jets Jets

BRYCE COLLINS - VIDRIK ONOPRIENKO - NIKLAS WIKSTROM

BIG MANIOUS - JOHNNY CAHILL

Jets Jets Jets Jets Jets Jets Jets

Winnipeg's top line has been consistently wreaking havoc across the league for a while now and it doesn't seem to be showing much sign of letting up. Onoprienko is consistenly one of the league's best centres, Wikstrom has had a truly historic season as a goal scorer and Collins plays an elite level game also. One area of weakness may be the comparative lack of defensive depth they have compared to Texas, but in Big Manious and Rembrandt Q. Einstein they have two elite defensemen who are capable of turning a game on it's head.

followed by Canada.

The atmosphere here in Dallas is truly electric. Some loyal Jets fans have made the long journey south to watch their team attempt to make history, and the Renegades faithful have packed in to try and cheer their team on to redemption, but only one group's going to leave happy.

We'll return with Joe and Craig in just over 5 minutes when Game 5 goes live!
