  • The Nashville Predators are not off to the start that their coaching staff was expecting.

    Saturday night in Nashville, the Predators were hosts to the St. Louis Blues, a team that Nashville was expected to beat, but as demonstrated in the NHL countless times, anything can happen, and the Blues made the Predators look terrible in their home opener.

    A red-hot Jaroslav Halak and the Blues' defense put a stop to most scoring chances for the Predators, eventually leading to a 3-0 Blues win.

    The Blues dominated majority of the game despite both teams having almost the same time of attack. The Blues managed to get 40 shots off on Pekka Rinne while holding the Predators to under 30 shots.

    "We tried motivating the team for a good third period but it just didn't happen. Back-to-back games at the very start of the season probably threw a couple of players off, so two-day break to assess what happened and come back hopefully for the win Tuesday night," Nashville Coach Barry Trotz said.

    The Predators face the Avalanche at home Tuesday.</li>
