Delta Planes vs Foxtrot Trottyfoxes

Day 14 of the Prospect Tourney

It’s day 14th of the prospect tournament and we’ve seen great flashes of future talent while other players are trying to find their footing. Delta Planes are coming into this game 0-2-0, trying to find their first win of the tournament and as well as many more in the next four days they play, they also are starting a back-to-back with the Foxtrot Trottyfoxes. Foxtrot Trottyfoxes come with a record of 2-3-0 as they hope to snag a win tonight and tomorrow before their long break.

FIRST PERIOD

It was a quiet game in the half of the first period, not many teams getting much opportunity until a bad line change from the Delta Planes leads to a two-on-one opportunity for the Foxtrot Trottyfoxes with a brilliant quick saucer pass from goaltender Sam Lowery, to forward, Luke Niemi who then passes to the defenseman jumping on the rush, Brad Smith, who hammers the puck into the net, with 11:42 into the game for his second of the tourney. Delta Planes however would not give up as they get on the board from a beautiful tic-tac-goal scored by Salomon Frosty, his fourth of the tourney assisted by Ethan Duncan and Ragnar Skallagrimsson at 16:32 into the first period. However the Foxtrot Trottyfoxes wouldn’t let that go easily with 1:05 minutes and seconds later, they get a nice cycle going on and from the point Ravi Gupta scores his first of the tournament, assisted by Ferda Shoresie from up the boards and Patric Twist who dumped the puck deep to start the whole thing. Foxtrot Trottyfoxes go up 2-1 in the first.

SECOND PERIOD

The second period was a bit more up to tempo with both teams battling hard for possession and crashing the net for rebounds. We wouldn’t have a goal until 14:42 minutes into the game by a goal scored by Alex Reyer, his first of the tournament from an amazing IQ pass from Casper Harnstrom, cross-crease for an easy goal, but the behind the net pass from Scott Hamilton made it all so much better. Delta Planes respond quickly, within 9 seconds they cut the lead in half by a quick short snipe from Miles Metcalfe, his third of the tourney from a pass by Aakko Makinen and another pass by Ryan Hoople in the neutral zone after the faceoff. 3:31 minutes and seconds later, the line that started the scoring first in the second period score again and this time it’s by Casper Harnstrom, his first of the tourney from the slot with the pass by Scott Hamilton and from that the pass from the point by Alex Reyer to make it 4-2. The score would remain the same heading into the third period.

THIRD PERIOD

The Foxtrot Trottyfoxes command the start of the third period with 3 goals in the first half of the third. Brad Smith, the defenseman scores with a slapper from the point, his third of the tourney and his second tonight, from a sharp pass by Jonathan Hunt who set him up, 3:32 into the third. 55 seconds later, Scott Hamilton scores on the rush, his second of the tourney and his third point tonight with the pass by Lligma Broomstick to make it 6-2. 2:54 minutes and seconds later, Brad Smith dangles by the defenders for a sweet crisp bar-down hat-trick goal, to make it 7-3 with the pass from the boards by Ferda Shoresie. Delta Planes wouldn’t be able to recover but would put one more goal by Tad McMinn, his first of the season tipped in, the initial shot by Reid Sutherland and pass to him by Valentin Kalashnikov. The final score is Foxtrot Trottyfoxes 7-3 to Delta Planes. These two teams will face again tomorrow night, great effort by the Foxtrot Trottyfoxes and Delta Planes continue their struggles finding their game. Foxtrot Trottyfoxes goaltender, Sam Lowery made 36 saves out of 39 and an assist for the win against Delta Planes goaltender, A Jobin with 40 saves on 47 shots.
