Big Second period by Champions lifts team to 1-0 start in tournament
The prospect tournament started out with a bang for the Bravo champions as they delivered a dominating performance over the Trottyfoxes. The game started out with a flurry of scoring, with Collin Brown scoring just 19 seconds after puck drop for the Champions. The Trottyfoxes would respond just 26 seconds later with a goal from Ale Beru to tie the game. The champions would take the lead back yet again a mere 28 seconds later with a goal from Nate Telker at 1:13. The Bravo champions would not relinquish the lead for the rest of the game. The second period would prove to be a big one for the Champions as they scored 4 unanswered goals in the first half of the period to take a 6-1 lead, with goals coming from Nate Telker with 2 more, Nathaniel Burden, and Danny White. Telker completed his hat trick at 10:26 in the 3rd. The Trottyfoxes would respond with a couple goals from Scott Hamilton and Luke Niemi to cut the lead to 3 goals, but they ultimately ran out of juice and could not keep up with the high-powered Champions offense. The Champions would go on to tack on 3 more goals to add salt to the wound before the finish of the game. Goal scorers include Walter II, Tim Demmer, and Danny white with his second goal on the day. The Trottyfoxes did manage to outshoot the champions 45-36, but they could not find the back of the net often enough. It was a great effort by Champions goalie Not Nictox, making 42-45 saves, good enough for a .933 save %. A disappointing outing from Trottyfoxes starting goalie Jerry Huuveri, who only managed to stop 20-26 shots for a .769 save % before being pulled in the second period. Backup goalie Sam Lowery would do little to stop the bleeding, only saving 7-10 shots for a .700 Save %.
