I'm starting a NHL 13 Be a GM with the Toronto Maple leafs and I'm going to update it here as we go. I made a few rules to make it more difficult and more realistic.

Rules
1. No trading for players that are not on the trading block. If a team does not want to trade them then I'm not allowed to get them.

2. No trading players that are not on the opposing teams want list. (Names in white)

3. Must make the trades realistic and fair.

4. If my reputation with a team is bad then when trading with them I must over pay. This goes for all teams in my Division as well.

5. Starting Goalie can not play more then 70 games a season.

If you have any other rules I should use them please tell me and If I like it I will use.

I also improved and decreased a few players overalls (OA) in an attempt to make it more realistic. I tried my best not to be biased but yeah.

Tuukka Rask: I improved Rask to an 85 OA. I did this because he is 26 and the game caps of player progression at the age 26. This results in him not improving very much when I feel he is one of the better goalies in the league.

Sergei Bobrovsky: Improved him to 81 OA because I feel he does not progress enough in the game.

Damien Brunner: Improved to 80 OA. I did this because he is over the age of 26 and does not progress. He has slowed down IRL but I still feel he is better then what he was.

Martin Brodeur: Improved to 85 OA. He is way better then what he was. Deserved the improvements.

Tim Thomas: I actaully decreased him because he is not playing right now and honestly don't think he will come back. Had to decrease him so he doesnt get played.

Erik Karlsson: Improved to 87 OA. Just improved his shooting catagories to 89 each. He doesn't get enough points during the sim and I'm hoping this will some what fix that.

Ilya Bryzgalov: Decreased him to 84 OA. He was 86 OA and I don't think he deserves that. He plays like crap IRL and gets rattled real easy. His Poise was like 85. I decreased that to 80.

Mike Smith: I improved him to 86 OA. He was the reason PHX made it to the playoffs and played decent during the playoffs. He is having a bad year this year which is why I only improved him 2 OA.

Chris Kunitz: Improved him to 84 OA. Just improved his shooting catagories. He has been tearing it up this year. He is playing with Crosby which makes it easier but still deserves some credit.

Pascal Dupuis: Improved to 82 OA. Same thing has Kunitz.

Mark Fraser: Improved to 80 OA. He was 74 OA. He has been a great story this year. He has been one of the better +/- players this year. He has been great defensively and has been an amazing bottom pair. Deserves the upgrade.

Leo Komarov: Improved to 71 OA. Only improved his hitting catagories and disipline. He is top3 in hits this year and always gets under the opposing teams skin. Rarely takes penatlies. OA did not improve much.

Ben Scrivens: Improved to 77 OA. He has been playing great this year and was the best goalie in the AHL last year. He is more then likely a career backup which is why I barely improved him. He has bad rebound control and real life so I took the in effect when changing his stats: His age stops him from improving anymore so I had to do it.

James Reimer: Improved to 80 OA. All I did was make his glove and five hole worse and improgved his stick by 1 each. Then improved his speed and agility a little. His age allows 1 year of progression.

Nazem Kadri: Improved to 82 OA also put his Potential to 4 and half stars. For some reason he does not improve much. All I did was improve his Body Checking to 80 and Strength to 80. His offensive stats where already pretty good. He has broken out this year and has shown to be a real threat.

Cory Schneider: Improved to 85 OA. His age stops him from improving. He is one of the better goalies and will be in the future.

Alexander Ovechkin: Decreased to 92 OA. He is still one of the best players in the league but he is no longer a 50+ Goal scorer. All I did was decrease his shooting catagories to 91. Hopefully this stops him from scoring so many goals but still keeps him to a PPG player.

Mike Riberio: Improved to 83 OA. Just fixed his shooting catagories a tad.

Tobias Enstrom: Improved to 82 OA. Just fixed his shooting catagories. Has played great this year and deserves it.

Matt Moulson: Improved to 84 OA. He has scored 30 goals the past 2 seasons and this year is a PPG player. Deserved a little improvement in his shooting catagories and strength.

David Clarkson: Improved to 83 OA. Just updated his shooting catagories. Had 30 goals last year and deserves it. His offensive game has improved a lot.

I think it's far become Kulemin can still grow to max 84 OA. Girgensons is a risk because he is green stars and could end up only being 3 and half gold stars. So the 3rd evens it out.

I now needed a 3rd liner so I went to free agency and signed Gilbert Brule to a 1 year 3.2M contract. Wanted him for 1 year because I'm hoping Colborne or Frattin will be good enough for next year.

I had to make room for Brule I made a trade.
