S51 WJC Bronze Medal Game - DACH vs. British Isles

The Stingray is determined to make this happen himself. He gets the puck out of the way of a swinging Lando that has still to get up from the ice.

He’s back in the same position again!

He raises his stick…

He’s giving it all he’s got....

It’s a slapshot that could top the all-stars’ hardest shot competition…

It’s as if time has slowed down…

HE CATCHES IT! NOLAN GLOVES IT! NO GOAL!

Very little happens the next four minutes. It’s as if the final glove save by Nolan deflated the British team. And team DACH are happily playing defense.

DACH enters the British zone. You can see that they’re playing a slow game. Dragging out the clock.

Thomas Vanice brings it back out into the neutral zone. Then leaves it for Luca that brings it back in deep.

Luca passes back up to Thomas at the point!

He hesitates.

But then he lets it fly!

Comfortably saved and covered by Doyle.

The British Isles haven’t given up just yet. The Stingray is at it again.

He steals the puck from Bischoff in DACH’s zone.

There’s a lot of traffic in front of McMahon right now. The DACH players are trying to cover as much as possible. Ultimately covering the view of their netminder at the same time...

The Stingray passes it up to Abel Skinner. Abel sends it to the other side to Patric Twist.

He shoots!

The “put everyone in front of the net”-strategy worked! The shot is blocked and deflected away before it reached the crease.

We find that the puck has made its way back to British territory. And oh boy, the players on the British bench has their heads in their hands. It’s definitely not looking good…

Mitchell wins the faceoff.

Cal Labovitch gets the puck but is then hit by Denver! Likely taking out some frustrations, but it was a clean hit.

The puck is tossed out to the neutral zone but quickly brought back in by Noah for DACH.

Noah drops the puck for Andrey!

He powers up!

He clap-slaps it!

Elizabeth manages to get the blocker up in time to deflect it into the corner.

The players have slowed down. All except Martin Nemo who wanted to take one last shot at Jack Wilson...

Some jerseys were grabbed and some pushes were pushed. But it looks like the refs are letting the game play out.

The players on the ice for team DACH have already started lightly celebrating.
