<s>Game 1 of the series wrapped up last night in Calgary -- after a painfully scoreless three periods in regulation finally gave-way to a lone Calgary goal three-and-a-half minutes into the first overtime. Games like that are like ugly babies that no mother can love -- they’re not satisfying for fans, they’re exhausting for players, and as series openers, they can be back-breaking if the teams aren’t given enough time between games to rest.

Well, this here is the SHL, kids: our players aren’t real and rest is for pussies.</s>

Turns out the only American person who took a trip to Calgary to participate in hockey last night was this sports writer, and suddenly the fact that all the hockey players seemed under 5-foot makes a lot more sense -- the Junior Dragons were hosting the regional championships at the Dragon's stadium last night.

Never a better argument to stop eating mescaline-laced cookies to calm my nerves on airplanes.

ANYWHO

With that in mind, puck drop will take place less than 12 hours after the completion of last nights’ game despite a six-and-half hour flight and the required crossing of no fewer than two time-zones. Suit up and strap in, suckers -- we’ve got goddamn playoff hockey to play.

START OF 1st Period -- CGY 0 - 0 NEW -- 20:00

Fresh off a rousing rendition of both national anthems by die-hard Wolfpack fan, Ashleigh Ball, we have the teams shaking themselves and circling up for puck-drop here at TD’s Boston Garden, the skaters looking perhaps a little tired, but their barely-perceivable lack-of-energy well made-up for by the absolutely rabid Boston crowd looking to see their hockey team crowned Challenge Cup champions once more.

Here we go now, Makinen and Randleman lining up for the face off --

-- Makinen being ejected from the circle with a roll of his eyes, now Dominique taking the face-off against Randleman in his place and

wins it on a backhand, with a quick snap back to Patrikov Bure, who starts the push forward for the Pack into Calgary ice--

Bure sat the fuck down by Big Bubba Nuck, who retains possession of the puck, passing it off the half-wall with a saucer that stays in Dragons’ control, and now the Pack is on the retreat.
