- Steelhead77 - 05-27-2015 <div align="center">Eastern Conference Finals Game 7!!!! ![]() @ ![]() We’re here in New England for Game 7 of the Eastern Conference finals. Winner goes on to play for the Challenge Cup, Loser goes home to cry in his pillow. This has been an awesome series. New England won the first 3 games and looked to be cruising to a cup finals berth, but the defending champs Manhattan would not go quietly and staged an epic comeback to win 3 games in a row and force a game 7! This is what the SHL playoffs are all about! Series Recap: Game 1: 3-2 (OT) ![]() The Wolfpack jumped out to an early lead in this one with 1st period goals by Blake Sherill and Alexey Kovalenko, but Manhattan would tie it up in the 2nd period with goals by Drake and Whisonant. Despite a big push by New England in the 3rd putting 13 shots on net, the game would go to Overtime. New England was able to carry that momentum into the extra frame and get the only 3 shots in OT with Blake Sherrill netting the OT winner just 3 minutes in. Big opening game win for the Pack. Game 2: 2-1 ![]() Another close game here with both teams playing strong defensively. Manhattan held a 1-0 lead through 2 periods thanks to a Brovalchuk goal, but New England’s Benjamin Reid tied it mid-way through the 3rd period. The Wolfpack then got a powerplay goal from Wikstrom with 5 minutes left and were able to hang on for the win. Game 3: 1-0 ![]() This game was like watching paint dry with only a combined 33 shots, 16 for New England and 17 for Manhattan. Both goalies played great and defense was the focal point in this one. No score through 2 periods until Wikstrom slipped one past CJ James early in the 3rd and that would prove to be the game winner. Tennyson coming away with a shutout in this one and New England would push Manhattan to the brink and hold a 3-0 lead in the series. Game 4: 1-0 ![]() Refusing to lose, Manhattan showed true heart in game 4 and put together an awesome team performance. Outshooting New England 26-21 and the game’s only goal was a clutch short-handed tally by former Detroit superstar Jamie Hawkins with 2 seconds left in the 1st period. CJ James would then shut the door and Manhattan held on for their first win the series. Don’t count out the defending champs just yet. Game 5: 3-1 ![]() Another game where shots were hard to come by as both teams played well defensively, only a combined 36 shots in the game. Rookie and former Detroit star Thomas Anderson would get his first career playoff goal in the 2nd period to open the scoring and put Manhattan up by 1 at the end of 2 periods. Manhattan would strike again with a Brovalchuk powerlay goal mid-way through the 3rd to take a 2 goal lead. New England would score shortlay after to cut the lead to 1 on a goal by veteran Kovalenko and they’d make a push to tie it at the end, but Roy Razin got an empty netter and the Rage would win their 2nd in a row. Game 6: 3-1 ![]() Facing elimination for the 3rd straight time, Manhattan once again showed their character and jumped out to an early 2 goal lead in the 1st period on goals by Razin and Brovalchuk and CJ James stood on his head stopping 13 shots in the period. The Rage would then add to their lead just 1 minute into the 2nd period on a Krivokrasov goal to make it 3-0. New England beast Carter O’Callahan struck back quickly to get the Wolpack on the board just 2 minutes later, but that would be their only goal of the game. CJ James had a big game for Manhattan and they would complete the epic comeback tying the series and forcing a game 7! Game 7: ![]() A truly exciting series and this game 7 will surely not disappoint. Can New England find their game and play like they did early in the series or does Manhattan have too much momentum after winning 3 in a row? We were able to interview a player from each team and get their take on tonight’s game... We caught up with New England star Dean Colt before the big game and asked him what the team has to do to stop Manhattan's momentum and come away with a win tonight... ![]() To stop Manhattan's momentum, we are going to have to do one thing, pretty simple. Either we pile on the goals early and we pile them on hard and don't stop until that final buzzer or we spend the game in the penalty box again. That's got to stop, we can't be taking seven penalties a game anymore. It has cost us over and over and now here we one game from elimination after being up three games to none. We didn't come this far to lose like this and we won't, we'll win tonight. Good stuff there from Dean Colt, invoking the great Mark Messier, we'll see how it works out for him and the Wolfpack tonight. We then tracked down enigmatic superstar Daniel Merica, who was so focused he did not want to give us a quote, but we squeezed one out of him... ![]() One thing I can say about this group is we never quit, we've been faced with a total of 6 elimination games this year, and have won them all, it really speaks to how bad we want it, I love these guys, even though we've struggled offensively all playoffs no one has quit, not once...regardless of the outcome tonight, every player in this locker room is a winner and I wouldn't trade any of them. Short and sweet from Merica as you can tell his as focused as ever for this big game 7. Now let's take look at Tonight's Starting Line Ups! ![]() ![]() Daniel Merica-Armin Brovalchuk-Jamie Hawkins Chuck Goody- Roy Razin C.J James ![]() ![]() Blake Sherill-Carter O'Callahan-Chris McZerhl Willie Weber-Brandon Cant Jermain Tennyson We've got a great game coming up, so let's get some excitment going.
