The SMJHL playoffs are underway, and today we have the Force vs the Whalers. The Whalers look to keep up their strong finish, while the Falcons are hoping the hockey gods are on their side. If the force are going to win, they will need to even up their goal differential.

Okay folks the anthems have been sung and it is time for puck drop!

First Period

The puck is dropped and Christian Blauch wins the faceoff for the Force.
The Force waste no time in attacking the zone with Edge Ochocinco, taking a shot attempt only 6 seconds into the game !

The first penalty of the game goes to Regina Froces, Trill.
Code:
1:29 of 1st period - Minor Penalty to Trill for Interference.

The Whalers waste no time on the power play as Jamie Hill wins the face off back to Jay Robinson, who cycles the puck over too Mike Abell, who then makes a saucer pass over to Jamie Hill for the one time goal !!

Off the faceoff the whalers continue their pressure and force Regina to ice the puck.
Off the faceoff the Whalers lose the draw, but hard work in the corner by Cole Hogan, they retrieve the puck. Hagen cycles the puck over too AJ Willison, who then makes a beauty of a pass to Chance Winston, for the back door tap in !

The Whalers are off to an early 2-0 lead, and it is not luck good for them.
Off the face off Regina seems to have some push back, apply heavy pressure to the Whalers!
OUCH down goes the Regina player, it looks like they'll be receiving a power play.

3:55 of 1st period - Minor Penalty to Jordan Uptick for Roughing.

That is just an unneeded play by Uptick with his team up 2-0, lets see if Regina can get one back.

Regina sends out their second PP unit, Trill wins the faceoff back to his defenceman McGraw, who takes a shot and goes wide. The Force regain the puck, and setup in the zone. The puck is getting snapped across the ice. Over to Ochocinco, he walks in, he shoots he scores, short side on the powerplay.

The rest of the period ticks away seeing two more penalties by both teams, but neither team converting.
Gord, Regina was very lucky to get out of that period only being down 2-1 despite being outshot 12-3. They are really going to have to tighten up defensively if they want to win this game.

Period 2

The puck has dropped and play is underway !
Just like the the first period there is another early penalty, again to the Force.

2:24 of 2nd period - Minor Penalty to Felix Steinsteiger for Roughing.

Off the draw again, Jamie Hill wins the face off for the Whalers.
The puck gets cycled between Hill and Robinson, Elvis Smulans is creeping into the slot, does Hill see him?!
The pass is made, Smulans connects with the shot and .....
ITS IN! Your whalers score another power play goal to take a 3-1 lead.

The Force find themselves trailing by 2 goals again. Just like that though, the Force apply the pressure again forcing the Whalers to take a penalty.

3:34 of 2nd period - Minor Penalty to Drew Myers for High sticking.

The face off is originally won by the Force, but eventually cleared by the Whalers.
Over a minute into the power play and not much has been done by the Force, but they are finally set up again.
Pomery walks in and talks a shot.......
Its stopped! A scramble insues.. Metcalf bangs home the lose puck and its a 3-2 game!

The Force are really playing with a jump lately, and the home crowd does not seem involved.

Its a 2 on 1 for the Force coming down the ice .
Douglas has the puck skating over the blue line, he passes to Marushin, back to Douglas...
He roofs it ! The Force have tied the game ! 3-3 ! Exactly one minute after their last goal they have another !

The Force really have some jump and motivation now, looks like the Whalers are playing without emotion after that goal.

The Force begin to carry most of the play.

The Force log 3 shots by three different shooters in 4 seconds, but no goals.

Pomery has the puck, he shoots.... he misses the net.
With an extreme bounce the puck bounce from behind the net to the front right onto Charlie Winchester stick, who makes no mistake burying the puck into the empty side of the net !

The Force now have a 4-3 lead, while controlling the play in the second. The Whalers really need to get some jump if they want to have a chance to win!

The Force are still all over the Whalers, and theres under a minute to play in the third!
With the face off in the Regina zone, this is an important draw for the Whalers, if they can come out of this period with a tie it would be huge.

The puck is dropped..... And it is won by the Whalers!
They get it back to the D, who then cycles it down to Sigge Clausson, who plays pitch and catch with Jay Robinson, who then see Brenden Galchenyuk streaking towards the net... He makes a beautiful pass to Brenden Galchenyuk, Galchenyuk goes backhand and slides it past the goalie !!!!
Its 4-4 WHALERS FANS with 19 seconds left in the second period !

The period comes to an end with Regina dominating play.

3rd Period

The Whalers are really gonna have to control the play this period, and try to get more pucks on net.

What do you know the first shot of the period is by the Whalers, 18 seconds in.
Although the next 14 minutes of play would be all controlled by the force. Whalers goalie Hunter Wong is standing on his head!

Whaler would not record their next shot till the 14:52 mark of the period.
After that shot the Force would control the play the again, maintaining all pressure.

Time is ticking off the clock, only 3 minutes left in the third. Will the game OT and will someone take this game home in regulation.
