The last two minutes of the period are filled with little strong pressure from either team, and the last minute is spent with the two teams fighting over who can dump it deeper into the opposing end, so we enter the dressing room tied at 2-2. Russia looked much better that period despite not being able to put another past Partridge. The shots this period were 11-8 in favor of the Russians, but the only stat that really mattered was the goal by the Czechs to tie it up. If there is not a goal in the next 20 minutes of play, we will enter into sudden death OVERTIME.

The third period begins and the Czechs bring out their second line against the first from the Russians. The Russians make their way into the Czech end and Kandinsky takes a shot that is gloved down by Partridge and covered.

The Czech first line made their way out, but aside from a bit of hand fighting between Smyth and Berezin after the faceoff not much happened. Both teams missed the net a few times and decided to play the turnover game a lot.

Three minutes in, the Russian second forward line took the ice in their own end. Piotr Czerkawski picks up the loose puck for the Czechs in the Russian end and is slmmed against the boards by Nurmagomedov and the Russians move it out of the zone and put it deep in the Russian end. McClure picks up the puck again, but here comes Nurmagomedov…

The Czechs regain possession and work their way back into the Russian end where ea weak attempt by Novak is covered by O’Koivu-Volkova. Russia wins the ensuing draw and makes their way to the Czech zone. They find a lane and get a shot! That goes wide by Maximus, but off the boards it is picked up by Petrikov, whos shot is deflected by Rykov infront, but it goes wide. Rykov again…

After the faceoff in the Czech end there is a bit of hand fighting going on behind the play and Doskocil gets 2 minutes for roughing. Don’t know if I agree with that call, personally I think it should have gone both ways. Gonna be a crucial kill for the Czechs.
