I don't think anyone expected that puck to make it by Venables, least of all Golury. His shot might not have had a lot of speed, but it did take a weird bounce before getting to the Armada netminder, which may have thrown him off.

The Armada coaches are furious at the bench, and it's no small wonder why: there's nothing worse than conceding a goal late in the period. Anchorage will need to reassess their game plan going into the second.

But he's LEVELED by Anchorage's Jake Primeau.
There are some nervous moments as it looks like Nystrom might be injured on the play, but once the play is blown dead and the trainer makes his way onto the ice, he gathers himself and returns to the bench to the sound of applause from the crowd.
There's a bit of commotion at the benches as the Knights seem to promise to tag the Armada back.

You know at this point the Armada defense has had it drilled into them to not give Andrey Barbashev II time and space in their own zone.
But almost three minutes into the second, Barbashev finds himself wide open just below the faceoff dot, and he winds up for a blast on the Armada goal!

Heroic block by Danny White! That shot had the velocity to beat any goalie in the league, but you don't need to worry about that when your defenders are willing to sacrifice their body to keep the puck out.
