...but the shot goes wide. Bananerström gets the rebound and follows up but FourFour is in position and smothers one of the better Firebird chances of this young game. The clock reads 15:24 and the Firebirds are looking to tie this game back up.

We've reached the halfway point of the first period here in Halifax tonight and boy has it been a dandy. Both teams are pressing hard looking to secure a Finals berth, it definitely feels like a lot more than 10 minutes has been played.
The Raiders have possession in the offensive zone once again as Pelletier, Villy, and Pelletier again fire the puck in quick succession. None of the shots are able to find twine, though. Spending time in the offensive zone has its perks, though, and the Raiders - while unable to extend their lead - draw a Holding call on Arthur Dayne at 11:25.
Their power play converted once already, can they do it again?

Boyka tries to jam the puck past Zhumbayev but the defenseman Declan Reilly gets in the way. Tomáš Toothsome tries his luck but the netminder stands tall and is able to freeze the puck. Firebirds fans across the nation breathe a sigh of relief.

The Firebirds are able to kill off the penalty, but not without some scary moments.
Prince George fans' hearts don't have relief for long as three minutes later Jordan Ryder slaps a hard shot behind the net where teammate Hercules Rockefeller grabs it and tries to stuff it short side on Zhumbayev!

Zhumbayev does a great job of taking up space and the shot pings off the iron, barely audible over the home crowd cheering what they thought was their team's second goal of the night.
