The period comes to an end, with Eastern Europe dominating.

Walter Hobbs is the only reason why this wasn't a 4-0, 5-0 period.

Shots on goal were 13-4 for Eastern Europe.

What can we expect for period 2?

It's Radovan Hudec vs. Carter Manning for the period 2 opening faceoff...

Hobbs keeping us in it, time for a Jacob Dorty hat-trick to seal it! Canada

Carter Manning wins the faceoff and Canada enjoys some quality offensive zone time in the first minute of the period, but they are unable to get anything past the Eastern European goaltender.

The two teams then change chances over the next few minutes, followed by a few minutes of stopping and starting with icings and offsides.

Alex Andani bumps into the goalie and gets a goaltender interference penalty, which rubbed Charlie Schieck the wrong way, who came over and bowled Andani over. He gets a roughing penalty as well.

Eastern Europe are trying to play more defensive but Canada is breaking through, showing why they belong in this Gold Medal final.

But it doesn't help them. After a few quality chances by Eastern Europe, defenseman turned forward Tokek Takshak lets a bomb go from the top of the faceoff dot.

Okay, it wasn't a bomb, but it deflected off a stick and guess what.

IT'S A 3-0 GAME.

Canada just can't get any offense going. Alex Andani takes another penalty which gives Canada a power play.

They have a few looks but nothing convincing.

It's 3-0 guys, game is half over. Time to wake up.

Canadian player Deku Izuku takes a hooking penalty, which prevented a scoring opportunity. However, he put his team down a man for a full two-minutes.

Well, not a full two-minutes, as it turned out.

The set play that worked for Cash Savage for Eastern Europe's 2nd goal? Well Kristaps Ball and Cash Savage DID IT AGAIN.

It's 4-0.

Quite the hole that Canada has to dig themselves out of.

But there is hope.

A late 2nd period PP opportunity is coming up...

Dayymo Ralchankinov takes a rather lazy interference penalty. But his team is up 4-0 so why not right?

Did I say 4-0?

I meant to say...

Carter Manning takes a shot. Save by Aleksandr Aleksandrov Jr. But there's a rebound. Which falls onto the stick of Tony Snow who...

MAKES NO MISTAKE. CANADA HAS LIFE!

Canada tries to find a 2nd goal late, but no luck.

The 2nd period ends at 4-1, but Canada outshot Eastern Europe 11-10, for a 23-14 shot clock at this point.

Stay tuned for the 3rd period...
