A sliding Luke McSquirrelly blocks it before it can get to Luca Del Vecchio!
The puck deflects to Lando Norris, who snipes a quick shot on goal but Del Vecchio meets it with a hasty blocker.
The rebound slides to Mitchell van der Heijden, and Alex Ranch scrambles in to block it.
And another one! McSquirrelly again gets in front of an Armada wrister, this time Lando Norris'. The puck is cleared and the Knights just barely manage to get out of that penalty kill without conceding.

Play continues mostly in the neutral zone for a couple of minutes, and it's clear both teams are well aware of the importance of this game.
At the six minute mark, however, there's a lapse in concentration by the Knights defense. Van der Heijden has spotted a gap, and Stan Hanson has taken off down the ice!
He's in all alone on Del Vecchio!

Stan Hanson fakes a shot and flicks the puck to his backhand. The Knights goalie cottons on to his move but there's just enough room for the puck to sneak by.
The Armada were looking for a lead, and they got it.

It's been a couple of minutes since the goal, and Kelowna has turned on the offensive pressure. Kalevolaripaavo Kaspertommevisnapuu picks up a loose puck in the Armada zone and rips a shot on Venables, but the puck never makes it to the net: Berry Blue takes it on the shin, wincing but staying in the play.

A minute later, Virtanen winds up for a slapshot that deflects off Ryan Cvitkovich harmlessly to the corner. It's picked up by Capp Hatter, whose poor-angle shot is deflected by Gylfi Eriksson but never makes it past Jay Reeves in the crease.
Luciano Vessot fires the loose puck on Venables, but the goalie is up to the task and steers the puck away.

As if a replay from before but with the teams switched, a canny play by Josef Novotny sends Andrey Barbashev II in all alone on Ian Venables!
He drags the puck back, and fires a rocket of a wrister that looks labeled for the top corner...

That was a great shot by Barbashev, and a phenomenal play by Novotny to see the gap that opened up in the Anchorage defense.
